2 chemicals and 1 BFN. Endometrial testing?

Hi all, after another devastating failed cycle, my approach to these things (after a good old cry) is to brush myself off and say, right, let’s try again.

I’ve done 2 fresh cycles and 1 FET back to back but no success so far.

I wanted to ask people’s experience of endometrial tests (EMMA, ERA, AIice, whatever they’re called!)

I’m in the rather strange position of being geographically semi-isolated… we’re using a major London clinic but having local scans and prescription of meds. So that has meant I’ve had very conflicting advice at times (from different sets of doctors/nurses). To add to that, I work in healthcare and have had conversations with a third fertility specialist/colleague who isn’t (yet) directly involved in my care.

My local team are of the view that it’s just a numbers game and we just have to keep going until we get the embryo that sticks. They state that we’ve had implantation occur twice so that’s great news. I’m 39 so I guess it’s to be expected that embryo quality be a bit average

My colleague (not involved in my care) thinks we should be pausing things and doing investigations to find out why we’ve not had success yet - is there an endometrial receptivity issue?

It’s hard to know what to do. I just want to carry on, I don’t want to wait, I don’t want to delay the end point. But, if there’s a fundamental issue that we should be dealing with I guess it makes sense to step back and take time out to sort it.

Any opinions gratefully received!

hiya, I would highly recommend the era, Alice and Emma tests I had 2 bfn then 2 chemical. We did the test after this and it came back saying I needed an extra day of progesterone. transfer on day 6 instead of day 5. I am now 8 weeks. Still a long way to go but I honestly believe changing the day is what got us further, that and pgt testing of embryos xxx

it might be worth doing the tests and it might also be worth considering the embryos and testing (as you’ve had 2 implant that would suggest your body was receptive but there was a problem with the embryos is what my clinic told me) so for that scenario it might well be the numbers game your clinic mentioned but you can reduce that by having the embryos tested . I have been debating all this too recently but decided to go one more round without testing the embryos (because there was a bit of a wait for testing and impatient) 🙊 xx

Thank you. That certainly makes sense to me. I’m not sure if we have enough embryos for it to be worth testing them… for both fresh cycles we did we got 3 blastocysts. It’ll be interesting to see what the clinics suggest to me when I have a review. (Like you I’m feeling impatient/just want to get on with it!). Best of luck for whatever stage you’re at xx

Hello! I had two chemicals and one BFN. Tbh following ERA, I had one negative and one chemical- it reassured my mind that I did not a have any infections. We were found to be post-receptive and needed 12 hrs less progesterone for transfer. We are also PGT testing embryos and I had several blood tests done. Dm me if you wish to talk
