hi I had two dominant follicles one at 24mm and the other at 18mm and advised to trigger at 12am on a Wednesday. I did question if it would go ahead due to having just two follicles ( had others but they were 8.9 and 11. My clinic told me to come for egg collection at 1130. My egg collection didn’t take place until 1.15pm on Friday. So 37.25 hours after and unfortunately no eggs were reterieved.
Anyone know if this is due to trigger or a late collection or just ageing ovaries!

Hi Poop. When I had this outcome of no eggs collected I was told it could be the "batch effect" which means that the eggs being stimulated in that cycle were unexpectedly of a lower quality. I was also told it could be my response to the stim drugs I was on and/or the long protocol. My next cycle I switched drugs and went to short protocol and did have a better result.
In terms of timings my clinic actually pushed me to 38 hours after I had no eggs. I had been on 36 hours previously. So I'm not sure whether the timing in itself would have caused this. Did your clinic confirm that you hadn't already ovulated? Have you got a review planned? They should be able to shed more light on what may have happened.
Totally get if you're feeling frustrated. I found this one of the hardest parts of going through this hellish ride xx
I was told age but no other explanation or bloods tests etc.
I wanted a clear explanation why. We had a consultation but the consultant was quick to get away and didn’t really answer our questions. So we made a complaint today. Tempted to go back to my old clinic as I responded much better there!
I thought I’d ovulated as had sharp pain and discharge the day before my EC. But assumed it would be nothing. But no busrelin or anti Goliath on meds were used the day trigger onwards
thanks lovely yeah I’m frustrated for sure 🥹but I have a plan for next steps which gives me some hope. I’m taking a break for a few months then getting back on it. The nurse said that it can happen with batching and older age but doesn’t mean it’ll happen again. And if it did they’d know from the follicle scan chart. So keeping it all crossed. I’ve reloaded myself with lots of Thorne and zita west supplements and weekly
Hi! If you did have sharp pain and ovulation “symptoms” it could be that you ovulated IMO. Given that you have a small number of follicles and so your egg retrieval would be a quick procedure, I would ask for local anesthetic only next way. And keep an eye on the monitor and look at your follicles (check pictures beforehand of mature follicles and collapsed follicles) and ask questions of what you see. Probably won’t be the most pleasant experience, but you could see what’s happening.
Also, I would ask for a review of your protocol and especially your trigger. Ask the doctor who did your retrieval if your follicles were just empty or if there was a very immature egg they couldn’t retrieve (still stuck on the walls of the follicle). Ask your doctors to give you a double trigger. That often helps with better final maturation of the eggs.
Of course, as mentioned above, it could have been just a bad batch this cycle.
hi thanks for your reply i have asked for a review and they are going to do a mild stim regime than a flare one ( this cycle ).
I did have sharp pains the day before egg collection. I will have to see if they can do a hcg test maybe the day before egg collection to see my levels are where they should be.
