No eggs retrieved 💔

Just had egg collection, no eggs were retrieved from 8 follicles.

I'm truly heartbroken, I can't understand why this happened and feel like my clinic must of done something wrong

Now to wait 2 weeks for a bleed and start round 2

Has this happened to anyone?

Did you have success on your second round?

Really need some support right now x

I am so sorry you have had to deal with that today, this journey is so bloody tough. I couldn’t read and run and not send you my love. Let yourself have a good cry, you really deserve to! ♥️♥️Going forward I’m sure they can look at things in your protocol that can change things massively.I got nowhere near egg retrieval on my first go and it was cancelled and they tweaked things for 2nd and it went much better. There is so much they can try. I think I read you are 27 which is still so young in ivf terms. Once they get you to egg collection next time you have every chance of having some great eggs! This is just a set back but next cycle they will know hopefully where they went wrong and how to change the outcome. Wishing you every success in your journey. You are doing so well! Lots of love 💕💕💕

My dear my advice is to run away from that clinic if you can. There are lots of tricks that doctors can do while they are retrieving and no eggs are there, apparently your clinic did none of them. What is usually done they can use a double needle to take them out rather than one, also if they retrieve and there are no eggs they should let you stay for an hour or so for trigger shot to do the job and after that to try again, also if I am not wrong they can flush the follicle again (2-3 time). All of these been explained to me before my first egg retrieval on a private clinic as I was scared to death because of bad experience with NHS where they struggled to take my eggs out. Be careful and ask in details what went wrong, not even immature eggs they didn't manage to retrieve?!? That sounds crazy for me, I am not an expert but something went terrible wrong. Take care of yourself and I am really sorry that you had to experience this 🤗

I'm so sorry lovely - that's just heartbreaking. I had a cycle where they weren't able to get any eggs from my right ovary - they said that the trigger hadn't been strong enough to mature the eggs - the next time we used triple the amount of trigger (I had OHSS after which is hardly surprising) but at least they managed to get some eggs (we actually had our most successful cycle ever after the disastrous one)

I know nothing will make it easier now, but sometimes they do need to learn from each cycle as to how your body reacts. They wouldn't necessarily have known that this would happen - in fact I'm sure they didn't otherwise it looks bad on their stats.

Sending lots of love to you - look after yourself today xxx

I’m so sorry to read this. Sending so much love on this difficult day. Sounds like there are good suggestions from others on how to prevent this happening again. I’ve not had this happen myself but in my first round we had zero fertilisation the day after egg collection and that really devastated me. Take time off and know its ok to grieve xxxx

Hi, yes this happened to me in October last year so I do know too well the heartbreak and devastation that you must be feeling. Im so sorry. I remember feeling so alone, such a horrible range of emotions hit me.

Was this your first attempt? Did the consultant speak to you afterwards or any of the medical team to discuss what they think happened?

In my case we tried again 2 months later on a completely different protocol. We did short instead of long , different stim drugs and different timing on the trigger. This improved our outcome as we had 6 eggs collected.

Although we are still awaiting a positive result, this outcome was so much better. We had one embryo put back and had 2 to freeze. I never thought that would would possible after cycle 1.

I hope it gives you hope. Please look aftwr yourself and give yourself time to grieve. Ask your clinic questions about what they will change. Look at other clinics if you feel that would be the better choice. Feel free to private message me if you would like to xx

Hi Lilly, sorry to hear this, it must be hard to deal with. On my first cycle in only got a fraction of eggs considering the Number of follicles I had. From doing cycles since we have come to the conclusion i didn’t get the right trigger (maybe not enough)- it’s worth asking the Q to your clinic and wish you better luck next time x
