Hi,
Does anyone know what blood tests will GP prescribe under NHS when pregnant, at the beginning?
And what they normally prescribed when a miscarriage is suspected?
Thanks

Look at the following website nhs.uk and access antenatal [this is the care you will receive while pregnant to make sure you and your baby are as well as possible ] care and all the information I think your looking for will be contained within this site and there is also a link to Miscarriage that mentions the blood test to measure hormones associated with pregnancy - normally 2 tests 48hrs apart to see if levels go up or down . If attending either of these clinic the nurse should explain step by step what is happening ie tests scans etc Hope this is helpful
Take care
Janet
There isn’t really much consistency and depends on how sympathetic your GP is really….
Blood tests? You don’t really get offered any? They won’t do hcg or progesterone or things like that?
Unless you are bleeding or have a history of miscarriage and are under a miscarriage clinic or have a history of ectopics unlikely you’d be scanned by an EPU in early pregnancy - if they suspect a miscarriage they will want 2 scans at least 1 week to 10 days apart and then you get offered various natural / medical / surgical options.
