hello all,
I’m new here and can use some help!
I got my retrieval almost a month ago and a week later got my period. I’m due now to get it again but have been having painful ovulation on my left side. Had anyone else experienced this?
Yep see my latest post. I had never had ovulation pain until this month (after egg retrieval). Hoping it calms down after a while! As it was really sore for a couple of days
Yes, I’m in exactly the same situation this month. I was wondering if it was cysts.
Yeah I found I can defo feel ovulation the month after egg collection. I wonder whether it’s because they are still a little bruised from all the poking and prodding the month before? Xx
Yeah I do, your ovaries are still excitable and not back to normal yet, I also still had slight pain for a bout 5 weeks after my collection. it does settle down
I did, after my first cycle. I started having slightly shorter periods too (27 days instead of 29).During the 3rd egg collection, the new clinic found out that I had developed a cyst, which was causing the pain and the shorter periods. I had it drained and I've been fine since then (which was 4 years ago!).
During the second cycle the clinic didn't bother to access the right ovary as it was "hidden" (but it wasn't neither during the first nor the third collection, it was just a bit more difficult to access. To show how much they cared about what I was going through, they just thought "it's more difficult than normal, then why bother?" My first 2 cycles were with the NHS)
Yes I've had the same. I feel your pain!
I've had 4 Egg retrievals over 4 years (egg sharing with my partner) and the ovulation pain has been horrible.
I ended up being given a laporoscopy to see what was going on but there wasn't much to report apart from ovaries adhered to the pelvic walls. I've read everything I can on this topic and spoken to 3 consultants but no one seems to be able to proffer much up.
The only thing I've found to make a difference is not having sugar in the month prior to ovulation (also reduces or eliminates period pain for me too).
I would suggest noting the dates and the level of pain to see if it subsides over the months. Xx
I am a bit like you - I have had 6 ECs and now suffer quite badly every month from painful ovulation for 12 - 24 hours .. some months I literally end up in bed doubled over. All anyone can tell me is its because of scarring and there is nothing anyone can do and it should get better, but it never has! Sorry you are suffering too x
Ah that's tough, I'm sorry to hear how much you've been affected by it. It's certainly something that is never talked about and I'm sure the more ECs you have the more you are susceptible to it.
