Hi fellow warriors, I hope you are all doing ok today.
I’ve just had my latest consultant appointment and she has suggested I complete my final nhs frozen cycle and then start looking at further testing ahead of another private fresh cycle.
I’d really appreciate your views on what would be beneficial for us as the tests are all so expensive. And should we do them now if they are beneficial and could help my frostie stick.
We have male factor infertility with no known cause. So far there hasn’t been anything identified as being wrong with me. But I did have a nasty experience with OHS which my embryologist thinks could have affected the quality of my eggs
We had a fresh cycle in Jan which resulted in a chemical and a frozen cycle in June which was negative.
The tests she suggested for the future were; sperm dna testing, Alice, embryo testing and something based in Chicago that I didn’t catch the name of but I think she said was looking at level 1 and 2 blood test ( not sure if that rings any bells)
Thank you and I appreciate your thoughts x

Your journey is similar to mine, short story: male infertility due to low count, morphology, shapes etc... but not DNA; no issues on my side. 4 IVF cycles in total, 3 chemicals and 1 successful- I am having 9 months old twins. ERA test will be great to have it along with ALICE and EMMA. Level 1 and 2 are for autoimmune issues like KIR, HLA-C, MTHFR, NK cells, inflammation of the lining etc but will be great if they can mention exactly what to test as there are plenty tests that are included in those 2 levels, you can't have them all or you have to play at lottery to win the jackpot 😁. I know that for NHS is easy just to say level 1 and 2 as this is what I also received at home in a letter but actually knowing exactly what to recommend is a different matter. Have a look at my previous posts, might help you a bit. Take care and good luck 😗
Thank you for your advice and congratulations on having twins.
I’ve looked through some of your posts and found it really helpful. I will 100% gather a list of my tests needed and speak to my Gp to see what tests they can help with.
Can I ask if your treatment was any different following the results of the tests?
Thank you x
Hi there, our clinic don’t offer extra testing so we didn’t do anything new for our next round other than getting ourselves in good shape (regular but not excessive exercise) and taking vitamins & probiotics. I also had oohs in first round but I got it even worse with second round and our embryos were of far better quality so I wouldn’t worry about that too much. We are lucky to have had one stick this time around. All the extra tests are an expensive minefield and not all proven to help. It’s so hard to know what to do. Good luck with whatever you decide.x
Thank you for your advice and so pleased IVF has worked for you.
I’m on the healthy eating drive at the moment too. I’ve been comfort eating a bit too much since my last cycle so I’m in the process of loosing that weight.
Thank you for sharing your experience with OHS, that’s so reassuring to hear xxx
