why decrease dose, if follicles need to still grow?

Hello ladies ✌🏾, I’ve received a call from the clinic after my 4th scan this morning since starting stimulation - advising me to now decrease my dose.

Started off at 150, then 187.5 and now 75 of Gonal F. I’m pretty sure they know what they’re doing but I just would like to know why.

I’m pretty confused as I’ve been told we are awaiting further follicles to grow. Although I now have 40+ follicles which don’t seem to be growing at a rate they’d like? Only one of my follicles is 17mm. The rest are 14-10mm.

Has anyone else experienced this? Would love some advise or stories TIA 🤎

They'll be tracking your hormone levels and ultimately aiming to avoid OHSS as 40+ follicles will be higher risk for this. If all 40 follicles got to say 18mm you'd likely be in absolute agony so they'll definitely be doing what's right for you with a balance for retrieving max number of mature eggs. I had 20 collected on my 2nd round and I was in quite a bit of discomfort after collection. Of course every woman's experience will be different with varying amounts but if you're really doubting your clinic at any stage, defo ask them to explain things for peace of mind.

Good luck xx

Thanks Lizzie.

Tbh I’m already in a lot of discomfort, I’ve been asked if I’m pregnant because of how bloated my stomach is 🥴 and my hips are pretty heavy and painful.

I’ll ask them tomorrow when I go back in.

I’ve only got one round on the NHS so it makes me question everything 🙈

As the previous post says it is to try to avoid OHSS and give the ones that are 14-10mm a change to grow a little Good luck for tomorrow
