Hello! So sorry to write again but desperately looking for some positive stories/hope or honest advice. I put a post up the other day about a concerning hcg and I’ve managed to have another one done today at the early pregnancy unit. I’m beside myself with anxiety and can see this is already over. The pregnancy unit don’t seem overly worried but I just know it’s the end as I’ve had slight spotting, like my previous miscarriage. If anybody has any advice I’d be so grateful.

The last one has no where near doubled and so I’m guessing another miscarriage is impending xx

I think what you're looking for is a rough doubling every 2-3 days - yours still looks to be going up well. If the EPU isn't concerned that's also very reassuring. I don't know whether you got your HCG checked on the prior loss but on my two although I got it checked quite late on, the levels were nothing like as high as yours. But other ladies on here may have had different experiences they can share. Are you taking progesterone or could you ask to have extra progesterone support? It may have nothing to do with the spotting but mine stopped with progesterone and I was advised to stay on it way past 12 weeks. I really hope it's all ok x
Thank you so much for sharing this, I really do appreciate it! I didn’t get my hcg checked as I was around 10/11 weeks so was getting scans at that point. Yes I’m taking progesterone injections, had it checked last week and it was around 180. Thanks so much again, hope it isn’t bad news xx
Congrats on your pregnancy.
This isn't already over at all. HCG levels should double every 2-3 days like MrsOrangeJuice says and yours are going in the right direction. Spotting is really normal in early pregnancy. I am so sorry you have had a miscarriage previously but every pregnancy is different and it doesn't mean you will again.
I think you are better off not testing any more. The reality is you can't do anything about the outcome and you aren't going to feel relieved for long if it is going the right way and equally if things are going the wrong way you will just be devastated and in my experience the 'at least I will know' doesn't add up at all.. you are just heartbroken for even longer.
You are currently pregnant, try to enjoy the moment and take a deep breath and focus on keeping yourself calm enough to give this baby the best chance it has x
Thank you so much! I know the tests are just adding so much unnecessary stress. I promised myself not to do any but then the bleeding started and you end up down a rabbit hole. Thank you again 😘xx
I was thinking of this too and worried myself sick. My clinic only offers one test and I did a second one 7 days later at a private setup and it took another 5 days to get the results. I used this video to understand how hcg doubling works. It is not always double but even a 53% increase is a viable pregnancy and hence the range that's described to monitor it for the weeks as well. youtu.be/ShZ2PNU7nnc. Hope that helps to calm you down.
Congrats on the pregnancy and try to enjoy this time instead of fretting over the numbers. ❤️🤗
I’ve bypassed my clinic and gone to the early pregnancy unit as I’ve had a lot more dealings with them recently. They’ve given me a scan today so hopefully know a bit more then 🤞xx
I think you should just go for scans now, I had my first scan at 5+5, perhaps wait a little longer and don’t bother checking your hcg again as it just causes stress at this point. I hope it goes well! Xxx
Thanks so much! No I’m 5+4 so feels really early to have a scan but will see anyways…the hospital seems to think they’ll see what they need if it’s worked xx
I agree it might add more worry! And it’s horrible when they want to re-scan and you are in a limbo for a week or 2! My epu scanned at 7+ while my private clinic 5+5 (with doubling hcg) 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you! That’s what I have been reading too but it’s hard to get your head out of the doubling every 48 hours. I’ve got a scan this afternoon so fingers crossed it’s good news xx
Hi everyone, thanks so much for your lovely responses! I don’t know where I’d be without this forum at times. Just to update on the scan in case anyone was looking at this post in the future. Gestational sac and yolk sac were seen measuring at 5 and half weeks. No fetal pole/embryo but apparently that’s to be expected at this point. That’s obviously left me extremely worried and wishing they hadn’t scanned me but here we are! I’mGoing back next week for repeat scan but also have a private one for Friday which I already had booked in at 6+1. Thanks again 💕xx
