Does anyone know if it’s safe to visit the hygienist during the TWW please? I’m book in tomorrow afternoon but unsure if I should but this on hold? We are advised to not do lots of things during the first trimester if the IVF is successful in particular in relation to our body and things like massage, beauty treatments etc etc so I’m wondering if this applies to dentistry also? I understand that if there was a dental infection or emergency treatment would be needed but if something is elective is it best to hold on till we know if the IVF has been successful and if we are pregnant? I’m guessing teeth cleaning at the dentist is not much different to brushing our teeth but this is such a critical time I don’t know if it’s best to put it off at least till the TWW is over?
Also, I’m booked to get composite veneers on 11th August (I booked this as something to look forward to should the IVF not be successful) however as it’s getting closer and I’m in the TWW I’m unsure what to do if I was to be pregnant? The dentist says this type of work is safe during pregnancy however, again I’m concerned and wonder if it’s best to put anything elective off until second trimester (should I be pregnant) or even till after the baby is born (should I be blessed with a baby)?
Does anyone have any insight they can share here please. Also I would be particularly grateful if DianeArnold could provide a medical view on this please.
Thanks in advance xx
