Egg collection on Tuesday!

Hi!

So as the title says I have my first ever egg collection on Tuesday and I’m beyond scared! I had a scan today and the doctor said 9 follicles were measuring a decent size but still not quite at the right size (some at 13mm, 14mm, 16mm) so I’m worried that they won’t be mature?? I take my trigger tomorrow and I have tonight’s stimms and tomorrow stimms still to go but I’m so scared they won’t get many eggs!

Hi Ziggy ,Been following your journey … I’m sure all will be fine . You still have 2 days of stims and in those 2 days the size can increase.

Thank you! I’ve been a bag of nerves since I started stimms! I’ve been so worried that I wouldn’t respond well as I have low AMH for my age and now I’m worried that they won’t get many eggs! There’s always something for me to worry about 😂 xxx

It’s a very emotional journey isn’t it … My second egg collection we were told we would have about 8 after the scan then turned out 13 were collected so it can change xxx

Thank you ❤️ It’s so hard not to compare numbers with other ladies who have more/respond better. Going to do my best to take a chill pill and relax until Tuesday comes around 🙌🏻

Hi Ziggy...

I was amazed in my cycles just how much follicles can grow in their last few days of stims. Your trigger shot will also give them all a final boost.

Hi Ziggy. Don’t worry about the EC, you literally won’t feel a thing with the light sedation that you’re given. I had my second EC a few weeks ago and it was fine.

In relation to the follicles, our clinic told us that anything over 10-11mm can realistically be expected to have an egg inside, and that they will continue growing right up until EC takes place.

Just try to take comfort in the fact that the clinic feel you’re at the right stage for EC and remember that the quality of the eggs is much more important than the quantity. Best of luck x

Thank you! It’s all so overwhelming but I’m trying to just take it a day at a time. I do trust my doctor and the clinic so I know they’ll be doing what they think is best xxx

Mine were mostly that size the day before trigger and they retrieved 11 eggs from 10 follicles seen. Every stage is so anxiety-provoking but take it one step at a time. Looking at your bio you are young, it's all about quality and age is on your side. Good luck for next week, I have high hopes for you!

Thank you! From what I read I thought they had to be 18-20mm so I was just panicked that they weren’t that size! Yeah my age has been brought up by some of the nurses at the clinic haha, I think they think I’m still a baby myself! Xx

Yes they aim for 20mm at collection, if they wait too long some will "over-ripen". I thought the same at my last scan but it all turned out good 👍 BFN on fresh cycle but hoping the next one will work 🤞

Ah right! Yeah that makes more sense then if they don’t want them getting too big. I have todays stimms to do and then will be triggering today so hopefully that will give them a last push. Sending you lots of luck ❤️
