Hi all, I’m currently 5dp5dt after a DE cycle (so no trigger was used). I’m sure this question has been asked loads of times before, but when is the earliest I can take a home test?
My clinic doesn’t do blood tests and have given me a cheapie One Step test, although I’m going to buy a First Response test as well. They said my OTD is 13dp5dt, but this seems like a lifetime away
I’ve been off work this first week, but unsure whether to return to work next week before I’ve had the results. Think it might be hard to concentrate on anything, especially as my work is quite stressful. X

Normally some people test 6-7 dpt but my personal advice is do not test early. This creates much more anxiety than the wait itself. You'll end up testing 2-3 times a day, comparing the lines if they are getting darker and you will drive yourself crazy. I would personally wait at least until 10 DPT. Best of luck and hope you get your positive XXX 🌻🌻🍀🍀🍀😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️
Know it is hard but try to wait for OTD- keep yourself busy meantime - read a book -watch a boxset -go for a long walk Take care & good luck

100% agree with Klndmr! Don't test! if you get a positive you keep testing and convince yourself its a chemical/you are going to miscarry/lines aren't dark enough/not progressing enough etc, and spend a lot of time stressing and crying. If you test and its negative you then stress and cry and are absolutely devastated only to then convince yourself to test later that day/the next day/the day after that/its still early maybe tomorrow.. and spend a lot of time stressing and crying!
Live in the bubble of ignorance and enjoy it!! Good luck x
I know what you mean about the bubble of ignorance! It’s just that with work commitments I’d really like to know a result one way or another sooner rather than later. Hope you’re doing ok. X
Tbh I’ve only ever had blood tests in the past and have always waited until OTD for the official results. My new clinic are different as they don’t do blood tests so it’s all down to me.
I’m also trying to make the decision of whether to go back to work next week. If I don’t know the results yet I’ll be completely useless at work, but OTD is next Friday which seems like a lifetime away. I’d rather have some sort of results so I can feel happy or sad but stop the wondering. X
We was really naughty and tested day 5 and got our bfp it was really early but we couldn't wait . People have tested to early and got a negative and a positive after so the later the better. Good luck xx
On our latest transfer I got a positive test result 5dp5dt. Unfortunately I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks but just wanted to say it’s possible to get a result after a few days. I can’t cope with waiting, I find it more stressful and disappointing waiting for 2 weeks to then get a BFN after all that anticipation. I’ve had 5 frozen transfers, 4 BFN and then the BFP mentioned above. I know I’m in the minority on this forum and it probably is more sensible to hold out until OTD if you can, but if not you can join me in the impatient club! X
Thanks, I might wait a little longer than 5dp5dt but I’m not gonna wait until OTD, think I’ll give it until 10dp5dt. It’s interesting to know you can see a result that early though. I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriage. X
Day 7/8 has always given me an accurate result either way (with a first response early response any other test has been questionable at that stage) although I can’t say it helps with the anxiousness if I test Or don’t test (in my 12 2WWs I’ve tried all the different ways testing in OTD, testing really early and somewhere in the middle 😆) you just gotta go what’s right for you in that moment and don't beat yourself up no matter when you test 🤗 xx
I had a very faint positive 6dp5dt not even on an early test I had a bit of brown blood that morning so freaked out it had failed again as my previous transfer I had the brown blood which ended up in full flow I thought the same was happening, so I cracked and tested and it was very faint but a positive and it got stronger every day then, it is so hard to wait isn’t it? The 2 week wait is so hard, if you can wait I’d definitely try and wait but I’m no good either and so impatient so it’s whatever you think is best sending you all the luck in the world xx
I’d defo wait a few more days but to be honest you will more then likely have your answer by day 8 which would most likely not change if it was a negative. If it was a positive you’ll be stressing over the lines to Make sure it’s not a chemical so I think do what you know you can cope with & what will work best for you xx
