People are so weird. My mum confided in a close friend that I was doing IVF and she apparently replied, "Well it's not natural and there are no guarantees." Why would you say that to anyone, even if it was what you thought?!

I’ve had off-hand comments from both my mum and my MiL that it’s not “natural”. I don’t think they meant to be mean but wow that hurt!! Like my baby is going to be something “unnatural”???!!! People just don’t think before they speak sometimes. I haven’t told them it’s DE - god knows what they would say then! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes, such a strange thing to say! I think people forget that IVF is essentially medical treatment like for anything else not working in the body. And you’re right, people definitely don’t think before they speak! I tend to let it go too because I know how easy it is to say the wrong thing accidentally sometimes, but sometimes people are just mean. Xxx

Oh that’s horrible, I’m sorry you’ve been treated this way. People should feel proud that you trust them enough to tell them this information, and then be sensitive enough to be tactful about it. I’ve been lucky friends-wise as I have only told 1 close friend about DE (really needed someone to talk to about!) and she was fab. First thing she said was “wow sounds great how do you feel about it?” At least we all have each other in this group eh? 💕

There is no guarantee with trying naturally either. Many couples live without children (those who either have no money or are against ivf)

Exactly. So ridiculous. My Mum was pretty furious! She also pointed out that this lady has 4 children, so it's easy for her to dismiss IVF as "unnatural". 😂
