Afternoon all, just been to our clinic for initial bloods and scan prior to starting IVF . Finally some good news- the doctor said scan looked fine . Long time since I’ve had a scan and it’s been good news! Anyway, they said AFC right side 13 and left 11… she said this was good but I was just reading up on average levels etc and wondered…. Is a “AFC” classed as both ovaries combined ie mine would be 24 … or is it each side individually? TIA

Hi there, I’m no expert but to me it sound like each side. I’m guessing an average AFC would be where they consider both & would just be one number. Good luck with your cycle. My advice would be to try not to read too much into the numbers as it can mess with your brain. You have follicles on each side which is great.xxx
I have a good AFC but my AMH is in the low side which was a big of a shock and seemed to make no sense at all but I refuse to google it. My last clinic assumed all was good as my count was at 25. Not to worry you but as pp said don’t read too much into anything and take one step at a time, this process has taught me that anything can happen. Best of luck!
That is the count on your left ovary and then your right ovary - next time at the clinic ask them to explain it to you fully Good luck for the future
