Update... And hopefully not a silly question?!?

Hi All, hope everyone is having a good start to the weekend!

I had my ultrasound scans this afternoon, was told everything looked normal so that's good news.

I keep thinking back to my HSG... It was so painful and they said that they could not get any dye what so ever to enter my right tube. Just wondered if anyone knows how the specialists differentiate between spasm or blocked tube and if there are any further tests that they do to confirm this? Sorry if this is a silly question, could kick myself for not asking on Wednesday. Thanks, any information gratefully received xxx

Hello :)

I had the dye test twice, once when i was awake it sounds like that's the one you had? and they said the same thing to me nothing was happening, so they then booked me in to be put to sleep as they said where i was tense that may have had an effect. Unfortunately it was the same result but then at least you know for sure xx

Thank you so much for your response. Yes I had dye and regular pain killers but it didn't go well. I don't know why I didn't think to ask, probably because it was so painful I just couldn't wait to get home. They did mention they may need to investigate this further but wouldn't expand as it needs to be the Consultant to make the decision. I feel I'd like to know one way or another whether it's blocked though so we know what we're dealing with. Do you mind me asking if they offered you to be put to sleep or did you have to ask? We are due to see our Consultant in December and I've got a list of questions already for her! Thanks again and sorry it didn't go well for you. Wishing you every success with your journey xxx

Oh no problem i felt the exact same way its quite uncomfortable and invasive. Im trying to think back i think it was the consultant who said to me about having to be put to sleep and them try again because your body is relaxed, I then received the letter with dates ect. It was a lot easier its just the pain after as they blow air into your stomach so they can see everything properly i would say thats the worst part haha. I then got told again im sure it was by the consultant that nothing was coming out, so it was blocked and was then referred for IVF. I am now 12 +5 weeks pregnant :) xx

I have a blocked left tube which we discovered when I had surgery to remove endo so I was asleep, and they said even if they do the test when asleep they can’t 100% say it’s not a spasm.

But, I was also told that having one blocked tube shouldn’t impact fertility that much and it should be easy enough to get pregnant. Unfortunately I found out 12 months later that I have low amh which pretty much instantly meant we had to have ivf. But we were lucky enough to get a bfp and am now 6.5 weeks, so 🤞🏻 that this one sticks.

Thank you for your reply and congratulations on your pregnancy. I'm awaiting amh blood test results hopefully will find out at next appointment. Trying to stay positive that I have at least one working tube but also have low progesterone which needs treating. Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy lovely xxx
