I’ve just started my second round of IVF after a failed transfer and no freezable embryos. Currently on day 3 of down regulation and have only gone and tested positive for covid.
As this round has already been delayed due to a functional cyst and waiting for it to clear I’m reluctant to pause again.
But is covid going to affect our chance of improved results?
Any advice is really appreciated.
And best wishes to you all!

Oh no, that's really frustrating and I'm sorry to hear it. The delays are just another thing to add to the pile. In this situation I would take advice from your clinic. You want to make sure you feel well, I'm not sure if it affects results, I heard the quality could be affected but I don't know if the data has changed since we've moved through with covid times. Also I don't know how soon your clinic will want to scan you but they'll have a policy when it comes to covid about visiting the clinic.
Ah with it being 14 days away you'll be clear of it then and fighting fit. So I guess its probably just about making sure that you feel happy going ahead, as I say I'm not upto date on the current recommendations. Hopefully it will be okay 🤞x
My clinic will cancel a cycle if you test positive at any point. I understand there is some evidence that it can lead to worse results, particularly in the number / quality of embryos. My last FET was cancelled after testing positive on day one of meds, so I can definitely understand the frustrations. Def let your clinic know ASAP, it would be a shame not to go into a cycle knowing you’ll get the best possible outcome.
Actually my clinic said the opposite. They will sure cancel a cycle if you test positive during stimulation due to infection risk on others or before transfer as they dont want your body fighting infection whilst the embryo trying to implant. But they said there is no real evidence about impact on eggs or embryos. They said there is some evidence that covid may affect the sperm temporarily.
My guess is that they don't know for sure about eggs and embryos
Really sorry to hear this. A medical study which was carried out relating to COVID and IVF showed that there was a reduction in the number of top quality embryos. I will see if I can dig the results of the medical study out. I have posted it on here before so if you can search my name you might find it that way. The advice is to wait 3 months before doing IVF after having COVID as I understand it due to life cycle of follicles etc. Also I understand from my consultant that it can affect sperm quality too so if you are doing IVF with your partner and he catches COVID from you, that would be an issue too and he would most likely be advised to wait 3 months too.
