FET and acupuncture

Hi, I’m due to start my first round of FET next month and have been looking at the research. I’ve seen loads of suggestions and reports about the benefits of acupuncture on the day of.

I wanted to know if anyone could suggest a good acupuncturist near Liverpool Street or around Barts. The reading has all suggested for maximum benefit I should go in before the transfer and again after. So I’m being a bit more careful about the location.

Also, any other practical advise heading into this is very welcome. Thanks.

Hi Lovely, I don't have any recommendations near you as I'm not from there. But in terms of scheduling your acupuncture, for what it's worth my acupuncturist says her practice (and lots of others apparently) stopped doing the treatment right before transfer and just recommends having one straight after. On the grounds that the success rates didn't seem to improve with 2 on the transfer day, and it stressed lots of people out, trying to get to and from the different venues in time. I've gone with that and have only had one session for each of my 2 transfers last year. Neither worked (!) but I don't think that's the acupuncturists fault 😂 If you struggle with lining issues, could be worth getting a session in at the start of your cycle to try to thicken it. Remember the main value of acupuncture for many is for it to relax you (some believe it definitely helps with things like follicle development, lining, etc, others think it does nothing!): so I'd just say try to find one that has good recommendations and you feel at ease with (I know that's what you're trying to do!) Good luck, hope you get some local suggestions xx

I can’t recommend one in the area but my suggestion is start right away, it does not make much sense to just have 2 sessions. I had several sessions before my fresh cycle which went well and also before FET, although not as many as I wanted due to the Christmas holidays. Best of luck for your FET xxxx

Hello In my own case I would say Accupunture made a whole lots of difference. Been pregnant 3 times and now I have a 6 month old baby and I have had to go for an Accupunture. Normally I do one week and I do on the morning of a transfer and straight after and I just leave it afterwards. It’s actually helped me a lot and contributed to my success. Even if i couldn’t do one week I will do 3 days. But the most important one says piror to transfer. On the day of transfer and after the transfer. Good luck

Thanks for the replies. Yeah from what I read it said the day of were the most important in the BMJ as did the various people I’ve found who do it. I have regular massages and I know they will need to change/ stop so might switch to acupuncture sooner.
