I have unfortunately tested positive and my ivf cycle is supposed to start in about a week's time. I am now unsure if I should go straight into the stimulation cycle, as soon as my test is negative, or is it wiser to wait for another month?
Could you please share your experiences and the outcomes?
Many thanks

Sorry to hear you’ve tested positive, I hope you’re not feeling bad. I’ve not had covid but I know my clinic doesn’t allow to start stims until 28 days after recovering so I would contact your clinic for their guidance.
Hi NennaNHope you are feeling better soon - make sure you get plenty of rest Best check with your clinic when it is best to re - start treatment Believe it is 28 days after recovering from covid-19
Are there any official guidelines on this from HFEA or the RCOG ? Could you please share these? If someone has had it very mildly isolation ended and they are well and testing negative on when they were supposed to start treatment what is the justification on postponing?
I am not sure what sort of angle of advice you require on this one, but I know I went into a bit of meltdown when I caught Covid at the end of November as my ivf was due to start in January. I’d read a few posts where people had suggested to get it out of your system before starting. However, I conceived naturally 2 weeks later, so reproductive system wise I’m not convinced it has any affect! Good luck with whatever you decide x
Thanks for your reply. I read a study which followed a very small group of patients who started stimulation 8 days to 3 months after having Covid infection. The study concluded: COVID-19 infection did not affect patients' performance or ovarian reserve in their immediate subsequent IVF cycle, except for a reduced proportion of top-quality embryos.pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/339...
So I was curious if anyone had similar experiences.
I also read somewhere else that 28 days is a recommended period of time one should wait before restarting, just to make sure we protect the healthcare system and the staff who interacts with people who recently recovered from Covid
Hi BYP5, I started stimulation about 2 weeks after having Covid, end of January 2022, and my clinic in Lisbon was OK with that. It was exactly the same protocol as the cycle I had before having Covid, but this time I produced the most eggs and blastocycts than ever before. Today I am 9w pregnant with an embryo from this last round. Wishing you all the best!
