FET - what’s the process after a freeze all!

Rollercoastersmiles profile image

We had an egg collection at the end of November and are doing a freeze all cycle as I had high risk of OHSS. Wondering what peoples experiences are eg. When you start your transfer cycle and the process (how long it takes before they transfer) and how many appointments are likely to be needed?

Thanks!!

Hello. I did a freeze all as I had over 100 follicles. It was definitely the best thing for my body as a transfer a few days after the collection would have been too much. I was doing natural FETs as my periods were regular, not sure whether you’ve decided on that yet but speak with the clinic. So for those my first period came 4 days after collection. Then I had to have one more period where I had to monitor for ovulation to confirm that all ok and then was good to go in the sense that again I had to monitor again for ovulation and once that was confirmed FET happened 5 days later. While I got frustrated the time going by when all you want is to hopefully get pregnant (it took over 2 months between collection and FET) I know it was the best thing for my me. I got pregnant second transfer :)

Hope this helps

Thanks for this. My cycle is regular as well so hopefully will be similar. I also had a bleed 5 days after collection. We speak to the consultant again on Friday but was just getting nervous and all in my head! Thanks for the info!

Hello, I had a freeze all this time last year as I was at risk of OHSS. I gave it a rest for one cycle, and then did my next FET in February. To be honest, I was really grateful for the rest and felt my body needed it. The FET in February didn't work, but I tried again in May and was successful then. I found a small break in between each one was helpful. Best of luck with your FET and your recovery. XX

Thank you! I’m glad for the break too! It’s all pretty intense stuff!

Hi Rollercoastersmiles. I think most ladies wait until they feel recovered from any over stimulation, then wait for the next period and decide. Once you feel better, you can go ahead when you want. Your little embies will be quite safe while waiting for transfer. Hope it all goes well for you. Diane

I had a freeze all in November 2019. I was really disappointed at the time as I was so ready for the transfer. I had to wait for one period then I could go ahead with the transfer. Mine was a medicated cycle. I had my transfer in Feb 2020 and was lucky it was successful first time and my daughter was born in October 2020. I am now starting the FET process again x

Thanks Lucy! We’ve just had everything delayed due to Covid. So seems like we’ll be waiting a bit longer. But at least we we have our little embryos in the freezer!
