2 WW, pain in my right lower abdominal. Very stressful day 🥺

Hi ladies, just after some success stories. You know how they say after embryo transfer, go home and relax....well I relaxed for 2 days and returned back to work. It was manic at work, I work with children at nursery/pre-school. I should not even be in the rooms as am office based but was asked to go in and cover ratio.

Today is 1 week post transfer. I left work crying, it was so difficult day, dealing with a very challenging behaviour, non stop. I am now so anxious that this ruined it for me. Spoke to my employer, am taking 2 days off. Maybe be back on Friday. But am so upset that this has jeopardised the success :( to make things worse, tonight whilst I am trying to rest, and leave it behind, think positive etc... my right lower tummy side started to ache. Very suttle but constant ache. Googling does not help either 😪 has anyone had a pain like this?

Any success stories after a stressful 2 WW?

Sorry this is a tough time. Keep an eye on the pain and maybe check with your clinic just in case it is anything to worry about.

If it helps, I didn't take any time for my first transfer and although it was a BFP, when that ended before 6 weeks, I took time off and rested a lot on my second in case that made any difference. Sadly same thing happened.

For my FET, we had a manic/stressful 3 hour drive to the clinic, I was having a work meltdown and on emails and calls literally as I was going in for the transfer, then again immediately after. Horrible drive home, straight back into working into the early hours stressed, constant meetings, trying to renovate a house which basically fell down around us, puppy causing havoc...Then my clinic forgot to tell me my progesterone results from transfer day were low - panic ordered additional meds, which then didn't arrive(!), ran out entirely, more panic, assumed was all ruined so I tested because I just wanted to get the bad news over with, and it was a BFP. Then assumed it would go the same way as the previous two (especially after the mess up with the meds) and I couldn't take any more time off work or stop the house renovations, so I didn't change anything and carried on being a bundle of stress and not resting, waiting for the inevitable. I'm 21 weeks :)

So whilst it would have been lovely to have been relaxing in a spa doing mindfulness for the 2ww, I didn't have that luxury - probably the opposite - and it made absolutely no difference x

Thank you for your encouraging reply. I was such a stress bundle, it is easy to say go home and relax for 2 weeks but reality is not always like this. I can now put this horrible day behind. Thank you. 😘

Hi Alice! This was my most stressful FET and the only one with BFP!!! I came to the clinic very zen just to be ambushed by the financial department that my payment didn’t go through. In the next hour instead of me doing blood tests and drinking fluid for my transfer I had to explain to two very stubborn ladies that my insurance is doing the payment directly and I have no way to influence them or contact them at that exact moment. I was crying and shaking asking them not to do that to me as I need to be calm for my treatment but they wouldn’t listen. When everything was done (at the end I only signed a form obliging myself to pay if my insurance doesn’t!) I was crying on the phone with my mum and thinking everything was ruined. And it wasn’t! I read somewhere that some extra cortisol might be good, maybe that’s what happened! Fingers crossed that you get your positive too!

In the week after my transfer I nearly lost my job and had horrible meetings with the head of my school to try to convince them to keep me on. I also had really bad arguments with my dad with whom we temporarily live. It really really couldn't have been more stressful. The embryo still stuck around and has continued to do so while I have been in absolute fear of another loss these last few months. I hate people that tell others to just relax while going through Ivf- it's so counterproductive.

I also had loads of pain in my lower belly and was convinced I was having an etopic. I turned out it was a good sign.

It's good you're taking time off. You pregnant until proven otherwise so you deserve a quieter day. Good luck! X

Hi Aliice123,

Really glad you are doing better. Like you said, just put the horrible day behind you and if possible enjoy being PUPO. I have learned in this journey and personal experience that the main factors that affect the outcome of a pregnancy is the chromosomes of the embryo and the uterine environment.

Currently 33 weeks pregnant and my 2WW was in the middle of a house move from London to Liverpool. So lots of packing, moving furniture with help of DH, although tried not to do anything too strenuous and cleaning etc. Right in the middle of the 2WW we did a roundtrip from London to Liverpool in one day which basically meant at least 10 hours on the road. While DH did some DIY, I basically cleaned our new flat.

I think IVF makes us super conscious and hyper sensitive to everything. When I worry about stress impacting on my chances, I remember that women still get pregnant in the middle of wars and other highly stressful situations.

It is a good idea to switch off now and then for your own well-being so glad you took some time.

I will be rooting for you xxx 🙏🏾

Hi Alice, I've had sharp pains like you too. Was thinking my peroids would come at any point. But it actually turned out to be a good sign.Apparently it's the the uterus stretching and preparing for pregnancy.

Hope you get a positive result too.

Best of luck

It could be implantation pains. A little cramping is common in the 2WW if you’re aware of what is going on. 🤞 you can relax a little

Oh Alice, I feel your pain in more ways than one. But I’ll just say that I too had cramping pains through my last TWW and thought it was all over, but as it happened I got my first BFP, we’re actually just on the way to our viability scan now. It could be your uterus stretching to accommodate the little bean, I’ve got my fingers crossed for you ❤️

Hi! I'm so sorry you're so anxious. And Google doesn't make things better. When I got pregnant from the day when I felt a sharp pain in my left side of the tummy, where my ovary should be until the day of my blood test, I felt that cramp I must say consistently. Maybe it's a good sign. Every body reacts different so there's no exact way to tell if it's good or not. Fingers crossed to you my dear and may that embryo stick!!! And going back to being you normal self and do everyday tasks won't increase or lower your chances of becoming pregnant. That's what my clinic says! 😊

Hey Nun, I think Its the time to relax yourself. My friend and I both we had our journey in Ukraine. She recommend me to had my IVF there. Be honest with yourself and visit the clinic tomorrow, if you feel bad. Gives you time to recover, without pressure. If you're so hurt your body is also fighting. You need to relax and be a happy place for your little ones. In 😍😘😍 My first IVF pregnancy with my daughter last year. I had all the symptoms in the 2WW. I felt Cramps, twinges, boobs, implantation bleeding, shortness of breath. I just ‘knew’ I was pregnant before the test date. But this time, I had zerrroooo symptoms. Not even a twinge on day 2 etc. I was convinced it hadn’t worked as I felt like I knew what to look out for having had success before. I was so sad. I tested half-heartedly knowing it would be a bfn but it was positive! I’m now 15 weeks and all good. Just goes to show that zero symptoms means nothing and all cycles are different. Hang in there you’re almost there!! Stay positive always and make your self in those things which gives you relax and pleasure. All the best and Fingures crossed for you. x x x

I think it’s so bloody tough to not get stressed during alll of this, remember every day is different. Spend the next few days watching cheesy Christmas films under a blanket. I’m also on 2ww and struggling massively to stay positive!!! Sending you lots of love xxxx
