Only 3 fertilised. What are the chances of a blastocyst?

Hi all, had my second egg retrieval yesterday. History is I'm 40 in March 2022. NHS funded rounds. 5 chemicals. 2 mmc. No other issues other than age. First retrieval was on long protocol in June with ivf. 6 eggs retrieved. 2 immature, 2 abnormally fertilised and only 1 made it to day 3 transfer. This time short protocol and using icsi. 7 eggs. 6 mature and 3 abnormally fertilised. 3 fertilised normally so aiming for day 5 transfer. Has anyone had success with similar numbers? Totally paranoid none will make it to day 5....

I had one egg transferred on first round and it was the only one to make it to Day 3. 2nd round 10 collected, 5 fertilised and 3 on day 3 and 1 made it to Day 5 to blastocyst. On my TWW now!!! It is so tough but 🤞🤞🤞🤞 for your little guys.

Hi lovely. I had very similar numbers: 4 fertilised eggs through ICSI and for me, 2 made it to day 5 blasts. The embryologist said that in the majority of cases, about 50% make it to day 5 (though of course there are exceptions where all or none make it). Really hoping yours get there! Would they consider a day three transfer if they have any concerns? Lots of people on this forum seem to have had success with day 3s. Wishing you all the luck 💫🌟💫

Hi thanks so much. Yeah if things don't go well today they may consider doing a transfer tomorrow X

Hi there, IVF can be so unpredictable, I had a round where I had 4 eggs fertilise and 2 made it to day 5. Another round, I had 5 fertilise but none made it to day 5.

I was 43 at the time so obviously quality was going to be a factor. All the best with your embambies 🙏🏾

Thanks everyone for your replies. We update. All are growing. We have 1 x 2 cell and 2 x 4 cell. One of the 4 cells has divided slightly abnormally so they've said if it gets to blastocyst that would be used last x

Ugh, I know. I think the fear is unavoidable. I didn't relax until we'd actually been sent our embryology report with pictures of the blasts and confirmation they were safely in the freezer 🥴

Even if it does work we won't be able to enjoy it until a baby is in our arms. Such a rollercoaster!

Hey, on my first cycle I had 6 retrieved, 3 fertilised and 1 made it blastocyst sadly ended in chemical. The 3rd cycle (2nd canx due to no response to drugs) I had 1 egg retrieved and was devastated, that egg fertilised and made it to blastocyst and was transferred back 9 days ago. I'd say with 3 fertilising you have every chance. Best of luck to you 🙏🤞🙏 xx
