Hi, I think your question needs 3 books to be answer.

Before the egg collection they will send you a list of medication that will required to be in injections. My husband was the one doing to be as I am terrible with that. My personal experience was good...no pain no side effects, but we are all different and you could have some.

As you will do check ups with your doctor they will guide you with the medication.

I am in the process of my first cycle and the advice I can give you is don't be scare but the day of the egg collection and the next asked them as days off. I thought I was going to be ok and I was in more discomfort than I thought.

Good luck🤞🤞

Hi there, There are lots of resources and you tube videos that you can look up to better understand the process. Try Googling the duff website written by someone who has been through IVF. The overall IVF process can be like this:

1) Appointment for consent , initial scans, initial blood tests etc

2) Down regulation if you are on a long protocol

3) Baseline scan

4) Stimulation and then more scans to check the progress of your follicles. Some clinics also do blood tests

5) Egg retrieval or collection then fertilisation and calls to tell you how your embryos are developing

6) Embryo transfer and the 2 week wait

The stimulation part where you inject yourself is absolutely fine. The needles are tiny and overall comfortable. You inject into fleshy parts of your body like your stomach usually so this minimises pain and discomfort. If you have medication in the fridge, taking them out about 20 mins before can reduce any stinging from the cold injection. Also alternating injection sites will prevent bruising and soreness. After 2 or more goes, it becomes almost routine.

The length of time you continue injections will depend on how your follicles respond and grow. You will be closely monitored with scans. I personally averaged 10 or 11 days I think.

All the best 🙏🏾

My ivf centre is saying that they will start my insulin injections before 5 or 6 days of periods. I don't know why, may be have genital tuberculosis and endometriosis cyst.

As this is quite a technical question, my advice will be to ask your doctor why and what benefit this will bring. Good Luck with it all.
