I think it all depends on the area you live in for length of process. It also depends at what stage you are? As for NHS v private, you have to be refered and accepted for NHS. Private I guess again it varies on area/what exactly you need. Have you been to your GP they should be able to give you some general info. X
Thank you for replying x
I have a child who will be nine this year. Since him I've not conceived. I've had some tests done private to see what's wrong with me. According to the the consultant we have unexplained fertility and the best option for me is ivf.
As we have a child we will need to pay for our treatment 😁
I've been referred by my GP an I asked an he said there's a huge difference between nhs and private he didn't really tell the difference he just said huge.
I've had to go private and everything's gone so quickly I literally saw the consultant in February and now starting treatment.. start injections mid May.. There was no waiting list at our clinic but I guess depends on area
I think that's true there's no waiting list for private.
Also is this with nhs ? An what price is it ?
We are very lucky to have been given our first go on the NHS. I seem to recall the nurse saying it would have been around £6000!!
Hi Lily-White . I had my first cycle on NHS I'm afraid was unsuccessful for me and my hubby . In my area they only give on cycle and one frozen embryos...if u have any . We wasn't lucky to have any frozen embryos. 😔 Now we have appointment in that clinic on 19may with doctor to discuss what "went wrong"...and what to do next . Prices in that NHS clinic are very similar to private clinic.... We wish to have one more on NSH but knowing that the next time if we decide to go thru ... we will need to pay I will definitely go private.... The doctor I have who safe my left tube is very good with over 20 years experience...and one good thing is that he work in 2 privet clinic and In that NSH clinic. Well knowing that he is there I will definitely follow him .
£6000!!!
That's like a private cost fee I thought.
Jupiter1234 are you doing it private from nhs?
Sorry I meant that's what the nurse said private would have cost-£6000. On the NHS I think the only thing we would have to pay for is if we want any sperm frozen. I may be wrong though.
Hi private treatment cost will depend on the clinic you choose. Usually the better reputation the clinic has the more expensive. Some NHS clinic offer NHS self funding where you pay for the drugs and Drs time. I had a self funded cycle at the homerton and it cost £4300 that included all drugs, blood test, scans. But you are still treated like an NHS patient so waiting list etc.
Most clinic websites will have a basic price list, but be warned when they quote £6000 for IVF that doesn't usually include the cost of drugs, blood test etc so soon mounts up.
We are now private and it is costing a small fortune for technically 2 cycles. But we are fortunate to be able to afford it so we're prepared to just hand over our debit card LOL.
So research the HFEA website and look at stats for your age group and then start calling around. Good luck.
Hi there I paid privately at the nuffield in Glasgow and by the time we had all the pre assessments we were £6000 . It's really expensive and we don't have any frozen either .
Really pray the ivf goes well for you all xx
Thanks everyone with all the advice x
Hi, going for private will make the process much faster and easier..... i agree with the above posts that the pricing systems depends on areas....
Hi if you go on the clinics website you should be able to view their price list. Our icsi treatment cost about £6000. all inclusive. Good luck. x
Hello! We passed ivf with my wife in Ukraine. So this is what we experienced with our 1st app. They defined the date for initial consultation and sent us the list of the required documents. Those were transvaginal ultrasound check results. Breast ultrasound check results. Chest X-ray (for both me and my husband). Doctor's certificate that my wife was healthy enough to carry out a baby and that pregnancy was not prohibited for her. Also sperm count.
On the date of the initial consultation we both came to the clinic to undergo the required tests (blood tests for both, pap smear, sperm count). The doctor studied medical records, performed transvaginal ultrasound check and evaluated our chances to successfully accomplish the program. He explained us the treatment plan. We decided to book all inclusive program. The medications and selective reduction were Included into the package price. We signed the agreements and officially started the treatment.
Wish you good luck with your further research.
