*Sensitive* Stopping progesteron

When I had my emergency viability scan last week the nurse said I can stop the progesteron injections and just carry on with the pessaries...

Originally I should have carried on until the 18th of november, when my scan was booked originally...

She said i can carry on a bit if i want so i dont just suddenly stop it...

My question is when do you stop your progesteron injections? I am so worried to stop... :(

I used Crinone gel with our little boy, I was told to stop at 8 weeks. I was scared but I did and progesterone wasn't an issue after. It's normal to be worried and anxious though but they know when for you to stop x

Thank you... I started to reduce it by 1 this week and probably by 1 next week and then stick with the pessaries only unless the midwife says it otherwise...

I would ask to speak to your consultant. There were too many occasions with my care where I spoke to a nurse who told me everything was ok and to do X and then when I had a proper discussion with the doctor, or asked for my emails to be passed on, I got very different advice. Not saying the nurse is wrong at all (and see below why) just it's too important not to double check.

I tapered off all progesterone from 10weeks. I'd already come down on the injections and to be totally honest I don't think the lubion injections I was on did much at all - when I was on two a day they did nothing to my levels and when I reduced them my progesterone levels stayed the same. However, the Ultrogestan pessaries vaginally made a big difference and I was very scared to come off them. I've spotted since I did so even now I know they were doing something. I think everyone reacts a bit differently though and it may be the injections work for you, or the doctor says they've done their job, so just double check. X

The clinic can do it but sometimes they won't or it's an added cost. I did mine through my GP and also used MediChecks (a private company - I ordered it online and got the combined HCG/progesterone test. Took a while to get it through and to get the results, but it was easy-ish to do yourself using a finger prick test). X

I stopped POI injections at 12 weeks and I’m still on pessaries at 23 weeks. I’m to drop them to one a day from now to completely stopping them at 24 weeks. I was glad to be done with the POI shots as they hurt so much!

Go with your consultants advice, they know best xxx
