Hi ladies, I’m going through the process of choosing a UK based clinic for using donor eggs. One clinic said you are guaranteed 6 eggs and the lab decides what happens with the rest, with the most likely option that they go in the freezer for someone else to have. With the multi cycle option If you are not successful with the first 6 eggs you can start again with a new donor, which means more waiting for a new match.
6 eggs doesn’t seem like very many to me, especially since I’ve always got about 15 eggs each cycle. Also seems like a money making scheme to make you pay a ridiculous amount of money for just 6 eggs instead of all the eggs, then someone else pays another huge amount of money for the rest of the eggs.
How many DE eggs does your clinic give you? X

Hey lovely. At my clinic you have a primary and secondary donor. The primary will get all eggs up to 7 and then any over 7 the secondary donor gets.. we were originally secondary donors but then got bumped to primary. Our donor only got 6 eggs and I was gutted as like you I had always got more... but I think maybe as the donors are younger they go for quality rather than numbers because of those 6 we got 4 to day 5 and froze 3 top quality blastocysts. So I think its a quality focus rather than numbers xx
In my clinic you had the option to go for a 'shared' donor, where like Daisy said you'd have a primary or a secondary recipient and you were guaranteed (I think) 6 or 7 eggs or you could go for 'exclusive use' where you would get all eggs up to a max of 18. We chose exclusive use and got 15 eggs. We chose that option (even though slightly more expensive) as I knew it would be our last chance.Good luck 🤞
