Hey lovely,

Are you doing a medicated or natural frozen transfer?

I’m on puregon (I presume it’s similar) until trigger.

for FET- frozen embryo transfer---i dont think the ovaries are much in play. sleeping or awake should make no difference-- they've done their job and given the eggs--now its transfer time and for the womb lining to get in action.

I think they have to do something to get to trigger point but I don’t really understand it tbh

Hi Boo, was just going to say the same thing as Harley. I think getting the thickness of the lining right is the only thing that really matters now (thankfully). I can understand you being worried if you were told one is “asleep”, though (whatever that means!). Would you be able to ring the clinic and ask someone about this? This is a time when you need to be chilling out and relaxing so it might be worth it to put your mind at ease. Best of luck. x

I’m with the others, for a FET your ovaries aren’t needed so it might have just been a passing comment from the nurse? I agree you need to clarify this with your clinic so you can relax but I’m pretty sure there should be nothing to worry about. X

Thanks everyone I didn’t want to bother the doctor but I feel better with the responses. I swear this journey messes with your mind xxx

Morning mine was exactly the same I have pcos however I took a stronger hormone and that worked really well - I was panicking as I was rushed through IVF to start my chemotherapy so it was nerve racking but honestly the new injections worked a great- good luck xxxx

For an FET you want your ovaries to be ‘asleep’. The oestrogen you take helps to quieten down the ovaries so you don’t ovulate. So having a few small follicles in there is ok, but they don’t want you to have anything too big. So sleeping ovaries are really good!I’ve had to tripple my oestrogen this time to get them sleeping, previously had two cycles cancelled because the oestrogen didn’t quieten down my ovaries enough.

Hope this helps x

It’s really normal for one ovary to be quiet whilst the other is more active. It varies month to month.

For a medicated FET, downregulation meds are given first to make both ovaries go quiet to prevent cysts etc.

You then start taking oestrogen to build up the lining and finally progesterone to tell your hopefully nice thick lining to prepare for implantation.
