Why would 2 eggs not fertilise with icsi? I will find out on Monday how my wee egg is doing I just pray it divided properly over the next 3 days with the hope for transfer on Wednesday

Hi Nicolab1 x last cycle I got 14 eggs 9 mature and only 2 fertilised with icsi ☹️My specialist told me it was an issue with my eggs.

He believes he gave me too higher dose of meds and we got quantity over quality.

This cycle we got 6 eggs 4 mature and 3 fertilised with icsi.

We find out tomorrow if they have made it to a day 5 transfer 🙏

I pray your little embryo is a fighter 💪💕

I am waiting on a call today to find out if my wee one makes it to blast the embryologist was happy with how it’s developed so far she’s said it looks a good quality. It’s now in gods hands I can’t do anymore the wait for me is the worst part. I waited all day yesterday for that call to find out if we made it to the next stage. I got the call at 15.15 I could of thrown up my nerves were gone. My last treatment it was day 3 transfer so making it to blast is new for me I had to google it if I am honest xx

Aww thank you😘, you need time to heal mental and Physically it’s such a lot on our bodies and your relationship our men are great support but the whole hormones and Injections. We push our bodies to the limit with the hope they will produce some good eggs. It’s an emotional roller coaster 🎢 with no Definite outcome. This is my last go I have done 2 prior, I promised myself to give it another shot before I turned 40 but covid changed that I am already 40. I would always regret no giving of one last go so I pray 🙏🏻 this will be my time. Be kind to yourself 🥰🥰

Yes x we will take a break for a couple of months and rest and regroup with our specialist on how to move forward 💪🌺Stay strong x

Even with ICSI not all will fertilise - it could be sperm quality it could be egg quality - there are no definitive reasons and it doesn’t mean next time the same will happen again. Good luck with your embryo! x

I hope you have some good news on Wednesday.

On your questions, first round we got less than half of the 9 eggs fertilize with ICSI. We weren't even supposed to do ICSI as, until the day, my husband's samples had all been fine. On the day his motility and morphology were poor so they said do ICSI. The consultant said he probably just had a cold three months before and that was all it needed to affect the quality (wish we'd known). We got two blasts from that. Next round two months later (similar protocol) his results were back to fine at collection but we still chose to do ICSI just in case. We got 100% fertilization and only one which they said not to freeze at day 5. We were told 60% fertilization is about right for ICSI. So ICSI definitely doesn't mean all will fertilize but also it seems to be affected by sperm and egg quality from the particular round, and results can be very different each time. That may not help you feel better right now, but maybe if you are considering any further rounds, just to know that things can change.

Best of luck 🍀

Hi MrsOrangeJuice, that’s interesting as myself and my husband both had covid 8 weeks ago. This is my last go we have done 2 prior to this one I pray third time lucky. I will find out tomorrow how my little egg is getting on 🙏🏻Xx

I agree - our worst round (9 eggs 2 fertilised normally) we were asked afterwards if my OH had been ill 2-3 months before.. (heHad had terrible flu!) they say that’s what did it - wish we had known we would have delayed our cycle! x
