Hiya I’m just wondering I’m 5ft and 12 stone 7 I used to be bigger but lost some weight for ivf. I can’t help worry that I’m still to big and it’s not gonna work. That it won’t be enough progesterone or something. Is there any larger ladies out there that can give me some good news

Hi, I’m on my 3rd cycle of ivf, with the mix of hormones and working from home I’ve put on quite a bit of weight, I’m 5’4 and last time I checked I weighed about 12.5 stone, I’m also 41. I had to keep a check on my weight because my clinic won’t treat me if my bmi is too high. I’ve just done my 1st pregnancy test after the 2ww and it’s positive.
Hey my bmi was just over 30 this time and am currently 24+1. My bmi has always been on the higher side but ivf still worked and I’ve already got a little boy from previous ivf 😊 wishing you lots of baby dust for ur journey xx
Hi Boo. By my calculations your BMI is js just over 34. Ideally clinics will want you to be under a BMI30 to continue with fertility. You have already lost weight, so a big pat on the back for achieving that. Sometimes the last bit is a bit tougher, but well worth the effort, especially if you get the treatment you need to have a baby. We do have weight loss webinars on our website fertilitynetworkuk.org which are free. Keep an eye on the Home Page for further information. Diane
My BMI is 34, I’ve got low amh but my clinic have never been negative about my weight (yes I’ve raised it as I had similar concerns to you but my consultant felt that waiting to loose weight would be more of an issue) I’m in the tww atm, if we need another round I recently got my referral to the NHS but I will have to loose the weight for them. Tbh whilst weight does have a small impact I think it’s used as a gateway to control access in the NHS really.
