*SENSITIVE* Should I be preparing myself for another early miscarriage?

Hi there all

After 2.5 years which included a natural chemical pregnancy and 3 unsuccessful fresh IVF treatments, we finally got a positive test result on Wednesday. I had absolutely no symptoms during the 2 week wait and had accepted I wasn't pregnant so was shocked to get this result. I started to get sensitive and more swollen breasts on test day and they continued in this way between Wednesday and Friday. However yesterday (Saturday) the soreness had completely gone and it feels like they have deflated as neither of them are swollen anymore. This follows the pattern of my chemical pregnancy. I have no other pregnancy symptoms. I am 5 + 1.

I have not had pregnancy blood tests as my clinic do not do them as standard but I have subsequently requested them. In the meantime I wondered if anyone else has experienced similar and what the outcome was? I want to be realistic about the likely outlook here.

Thank you for your help x

Hey, I barely had any obvious symptoms during my TWW except for period type cramp on D7/8 post 5dt. I got my BFP too, and still went on to have limited symptoms incl. slightly tender boobs and food cravings. Anyway, I was nervous because everyone talks about extreme nausea or sickness, heavy boobs, headaches etc. so I asked my doctor and she said lots of people don’t get many symptoms at all. I’m 13+2 days pregnant with twins so I had expected more symptoms but I’m grateful babies are okay and I’ve escaped without heavy nausea!

Pregnancy after loss can be really hard, always fearing the worst so try to calm your mind for now and focus on the positive you got. I hope you get your blood test to provide you some reassurances. Good luck 🤞🏻 xx

I had this with my boobs with both my chemical AND my successful pregnancy so was assuming the worst again but it wasn’t. In fact my boobs were sorer with the chemical actually and with successful they fluctuated quite a bit the first few weeks but never really went back to being proper sore. So I’m not really sure how much of an indicator the boobs really are I’m afraid. Especially if you are on any types of meds like progesterone which also affect them. Hoping the blood tests get done quickly for you and you get some peace of mind from them 🤗💜🌸

Thank you both for your input and advice. I'm waiting to receive a call back to see about booking in for bloods. I think the main worry is the fact that the swollen and tender boobs was literally the only symptom I had and even that has completely gone. If I had any other symptoms I think I'd feel I bit more reassured but I just feel completely normal, not bloated or sick or headachy or tired. Nothing. Anyway thanks again for your help and good luck wishes, it really helps to get some other perspectives and hear of others' experiences xx

The only real way is for beta testing. You could also do daily pregnancy tests each morning but sometimes That just adds more stress.

Hi Skittles. Plenty of time to get symptoms. If you were doing this naturally, you wouldn't know yet. Just keep up with any prescribed medication, and fingers crossed all goes as it should. Diane

Thank you, yes I will continue with the meds. Its not the absence of symptoms I'm worried about. It's the fact I had symptoms and they have now disappeared just like they did in my chemical pregnancy. Cheers for the good luck

Thank you all. I've had my first blood test and will have another in two days time so will see what that tells us x

Thank you to everyone who commented. Just a small update for completeness of this post. I had HCG bloods done twice this week, these are the results:

Monday (5+2) - 5536

Wednesday (5+4) - 8308

Numbers not doubled but I'm trying to hold on to hope on the basis that I've read they can double every 48-72 hours and when they go above a certain level the doubling slows down. Very worried though x

This sounds positive - will they test again or just scan next? Everything crossed for you xx

They'll just scan now, end of next week. My husband thinks things are looking really positive but I'm massively concerned about the fact they've only risen by 50%. Thank you for your thoughts x

It’s almost impossible to stay positive when you’ve been through fertility issues isn’t it. But it is going up. This is a good sign. Some just start off slower, and lower. Xx

Perfect so plenty of being kind to yourself and relaxing things if possible and guess what I’ll have a scan too by next week so let’s see how it goes. 🤞🤞🤞❤️

Hi everyone. Just an update from me - I like to complete posts like this as it's helpful to learn the outcomes for future readers. I went in for my viability scan today and there was a heartbeat. Was completely taken by surprise and burst into tears as I was convinced this would be non viable with my disappearing symptoms and non doubling HCG. Plus had some red spotting before i left for the clinic this morning. The sonographer couldn't see anything concerning on the scan re a bleed so reckons it's just a blood vessell. Obviously there is a long way to go and I will be taking nothing for granted but this was a massive milestone to get to this point. X
