We were told we would be put on the waiting list for IVF once my BMI was below 30. I got my BMI to below 30 and we’re on! 🙌🏽 Now I need to maintain it. I find after 15 years of disordered eating and now at 31 finally starting to nourish my body properly with food, it’s tough going!
Anyone else had a similar experience?

I lost 3 1/2 stone to get on the waiting list last year, had egg collection in jan and are awaiting transfer but IVF meds, bereavement and a very stressful house move resulted in me putting a stone 1/2 back on which I can currently trying to loose again. Maintaining my weight has been much harder than loosing it in the first place for me. Stay focused would be my advice I got distracted and I massively regret it now xx
Good luck for your transfer, fingers crossed for you! It’s really hard isn’t it, I think constantly checking the scales doesn’t do me any good! Do you mind me asking, has your transfer been delayed because you’ve put weight on? They’ve said if I put weight on and my BMI goes above 30 again they’ll delay our IVF. I feel it’s so much pressure to carry alone and my husband doesn’t need to worry about his weight or anything! X
No its not, I have been very honest with the clinic about my weight as they have only actually weighed me on the day of egg collection and so far it’s not been an issue although I am an NHS patient I get my treatment at a private clinic so I think they aren’t as bothered. We are waiting on results of a trio biopsy before we go ahead with transfer. Having said that I don’t think they will let me have another cycle if I don’t loose the weight again hence trying to get it off again now before they say no to me xx
Ah okay. We we told at our appointment if my weight goes up they’ll defer us, it’s frustrating as I’m only a few pounds away from the weight they told me to be.
I found Izzy Judd’s book really helpful & she had some good suggestions in the back that she stuck to that she felt helped her health during their IVF. X
I wish they had been that strict with me, I wouldn’t have let my weight slip if they had. Oh thanks for the tip, I will have a look. Wishing you all the best with your journey xx
Hiya I’m at a private clinic and they only asked my weight once and it was for being put to sleep. They aren’t even remotely interested in my weight for ivf. And I’m not a small girl. They have said on numerous occasions larger women get pregnant all the time. They are more interested in what I do eat. Aslong as I’m healthy eating(cut out processed crap) they are happy. They have actually told me not to lose weight fast coz it affects your hormones xxx
Hey I’ve been in a similar situation when I was put on waiting list my BMI was 31 but as I have low amh and afc dr said she would put me on the list as it’s only 2kg and I needed to lose it by the time we started in 9 months time. Covid happened and I wasn’t sure if I even would start even a month before, when I did was over the moon and forgot about the weight loss. I was weighed at first appointment and the scales kept flickering but nurse took first point so was really lucky. At my follow up appointments as the cycle failed drs keep reminding me to lose weight but again have a long weight and so much stress at the moment so haven’t been able to focus on it! Agree there’s already so much stress and focus on me and never tell my partner to lose weight!!!
