How common is an implantation bleed?

After two rounds of IVF which resulted in a positive test but subsequent miscarriage , I had what I presume were implantation bleeds both around the 6dp5dt time.

I'm now 6dp5dt with my fourth cycle and am feeling downhearted that I've not had a bleed.

If you've previously had implantation bleeds, does that mean you are more likely to have implantation bleeds for future pregnancies?

The only difference this cycle is that I am on a blood thinner, Inhixa but I thought I may be more likely to bleed, or at least for the blood to me more obvious as a result.

I'd be grateful to hear of anyone's experience.

I’m not sure about whether previous bleeds mean you’re more likely to have one, but I do remember specifically reading that they’re not that common - they’re common enough, happen quite often, but they’re definitely not the majority or the rule. Hope that helps and fingers crossed xx

First pregnancy brown blood at 5dp.

Second pregnancy (right now - 6 weeks tomorrow) nothing.

I thought the exact same as you. I keep reading every pregnancy is different. I am proof of that. Keep positive.

Hi there! I asked my doctor about this because there is not a lot of ‘factual’ information out there about implantation bleeding. Until not too long ago, doctors thought it was a myth or coincidence, that it wasn’t actually due to implantation. They now know that it definitely does exist, but they still don’t have a lot of details.

The figure 30% gets thrown around a lot, but when I asked my specialist she said that figure was made up. They haven’t done the studies yet to have worked this out. It happens sometimes, but it doesn’t ‘appear’ to be individual dependant, because a women may have it one pregnancy but not the next. They just don’t know enough.

What this tells me is that you could definitely still be pregnant, even if you didn’t get a bleed this time.

All the best of luck. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

I've had 4 pregnancies. 3 with implantation bleeding, 1 with none. I think it's like a lot of pregnancy symptoms; they vary each time.

I had implantation bleeding with one of my miscarriage pregnancies, not with the other two miscarriage pregnancies. And not with my successful IVF pregnancy (also had inhixa injections). Good luck to you x

After panicking myself about not bleeding in my 2ww after reading about it being a good sign I’m nearly 10 weeks pregnant after our first fet and had no bleeding until 2 1/2 weeks after the transfer. I also know people that have had successful ivf with and without an implantation bleed. Wish you loads of luck xx

Hi, I had an implantation bleed when I was not taking Inhixa during my first FET but I didn't have one after another FET and while on Inhixa. I also thought this was not a good sign but had BFP both times. Just to prove this is not a rule and every pregnancy is different. Unfortunately my pregnancies didn't progress, most likely due to chromosomal issues/age (40+) so I am still trying. All the best for your test day!

Hi AracaLl

I had an implantation bleed with my first natural pregnancy and it was at the time my period was due I remember thinking that I was about to start my period, it ended in a misscarriage, a missed misscarriage I didn’t find out until my 12 week scan.

I wanted to give you reassurance in that every pregnancy is different. I know others have said this but it really is the case. I know that ivf pregnancy are more prone to early bleeds, I had one in my ivf pregnancy, at 6 weeks it was a huuuge bleed though. But not everyone has that and it doesn’t mean it’s a bad or good sign.

Importantly a big congratulations to you, it’s great news that you are pregnant. I really hope all progresses really well. The 2ww after pregnancy is so hard as we wait for that viability scan. I have everything crossed for you and your 🌈🌈🌈🌈. Keep as chilled and happy as you can, it’s so hard though I know. Xxx

Thank you so much for your kind words and taking the trouble to reply xx

I only had implantation bleeding once out of the three miscarriages I have had, and only with the first one. So it is not a rule. Good luck!
