Hi all,

I have had my initial appointment with gynae where they told me to do all my scans bloods etc and have my appointment on 9th July to discuss my ivf referral with a consultant.

how long did you wait between this referral and your first meeting with your clinic? Do you do the ivf paperwork with gynae or with the clinic?

I got news of another pregnancy announcement today and am feeling really low and helpless and out of control any info would be welcome.

Thank you

Kelly

Hi,

We did our paperwork before we had our first consultation.

We then sent the paperwork to the clinic in time for the initial meeting with the consultant.

The consultant then went through our histories asking extra questions in addition to what was on our forms.

She then explained how IVF works and explained what routes we could take dependent on certain result

We received the consultants report with 3 weeks and could start straight away

Hi thank you for your reply I’m just trying to work out where I stand and how much longer I could be waiting whilst feeling like everyone around me is moving forward 😩

So sorry for the questions, is this the consultant at the clinic or at the hospital?

That’s the consultant at the clinic.

The NHS was a waste of time when it came to fertility stuff, they were busy rushing us out the door to go private, as they were closing and we weren’t eligible for funding.

You can skip NHS treatment and self refer to a private clinic

Hello, I know the wait times can be one of the most stressful parts of this journey!

I was with my gynaecologist for maybe three months exploring lots of tests before he referred us to IVF. He forwarded all our paperwork on, and then I had to complete a self-referral form online as well with the clinic I was being referred too. The consultants appointment was maybe two weeks later where she ran through both of our histories and asked us more questions, then gave us our chances of IVF working for us. She explained what protocol she’d put me on and how the process all works, gave me a few forms to sign and then told me we could start right away with my next cycle (which was a few weeks later).

This was all private however, and with the NHS my consultant advised that there was a wait list and a back log due to Covid which mentally, I couldn’t take and we were in the fortunate position to be able to move forward with private.

Good luck 🍀 xxx

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your response.

The wait times really are especially with everyone else around me going along their journeys a lot quicker than mine. It’s just heart shattering.

This is great info sadly we are not in a position to go private but we will keep pushing along.

Thank you and good luck xx

Hiya. Waiting is the worse, once we got the go ahead from our NHS consultant to be referred for IVF our clinic got back to us pretty quickly, had our first appointment a month later (NHS referred us 20th Dec and clinic called 23rd Dec to book us in for 20th Jan). There were some forms to fill in on our portal prior to the consultant meeting, but at the meeting they discussed what would happen and let us ask any questions, then they added all our consent forms and videos to our portal to work through and we were able to start on next cycle. I emailed when that occurred and I got my treatment plan within couple of days. I’m currently doing my 2nd attempt (final NHS funded) with the 1 frozen embryo we got from our first failed attempt, so fingers crossed this will be the one that works because as you say, so many people around me seem to be getting pregnant or giving birth that it’s getting harder and harder to keep happy and positive as there’s this constant reminder that you can’t achieve the one thing you’ve always wanted.

I hope your treatment goes well x

Hi I really haters the waiting at least with a 2ww something may or may not be happening and via ivf you know something is there it’s just will it won’t it. But this is different you feel like everyone involved has forgotten all about you and you’re just in the wind.

This is great info and gives me a bit of hope xx

Lots of luck to you xxx
