Bleeding

Hi

Has anyone experienced bleeding in pregnancy 14 weeks +6 days. This is an IVF pregnancy. It’s when I wipe. I’ve had the tiniest clot of blood.

I don’t know what to do?

Any advice please?

I would call your local EPU and ask their advice. They may recommend a scan to put your mind at ease. Wish you all the best xxxx

Yes I agree with RubyVet definitely make a call and I am sure they will say to come in. I had some blood when I was coming out of the shower the other day when I was 21 weeks. It was just when I wiped but they said to come in and checked baby’s heartbeat and had a check to see if they could see where the blood was coming from and done a swab. In my case they could not see where the blood was coming from and it did stop. I would definitely see what they say so it can put your mind at rest xxx

Thank you. They have advised to put a sanitary towel on and bed rest and call them back after an hour. They don’t scan at the clinic over the weekend. I’m glad you are ok. Xxx

Glad you called! Can they refer you to the hospital if nothing has changed. The midwife did say to me that bleeding is probably more common than you think but should be checked out just to make sure. Hope the bleed clears up soon as I know it’s very scary xxx

It seems to have stopped now. I just can’t help thinking of the worst. Il be 15 weeks tomorrow. I felt like i was starting to believe that it was going to be ok and I was in with a chance. Il try and stay positive and keep resting till I speak to my midwife. Thanks again for your reply. X

I had bleeding at 13+4 although I'd had some bleeding earlier in my pregnancy. It was more spotting and it turned out all was ok....I have twins now. The worst part is it was just after my 12 wk scan. I had a private scan a couple of weeks later which helped with reassurance but it was so worrying at the time and early pregnancy wouldnt see me as it wasnt heavy. I guess what I'm saying is it isnt necessarily bad news.xx

I started bleeding around this time, and continued to bleed on and off until my planned c section at 38 weeks. Mine was because I had placenta praevia (low lying placenta) which would bleed as the placenta was growing and stretching. Can be quite risky as can cause early labour and means you definitely need a c section but me and my little girl were all fine. She’s 3 now. My midwife also said bleeding can happen after sex too. Stay positive, bleeding is quite common during pregnancy xx

I had bleeding when I wiped them again in the morning and all on my pad the other day, I’ll be 7 weeks tmrw ivf, the blood was brown so it was nothing to worry about she told me if it’s brown it’s fine but if it is red (fresh blood) then I would’ve had to go to the hospital to be assessed. Hope everything is ok

I'm 14 weeks and have been bleeding since 7dp5dt. No real explanation and baby is fine. Blood is dark brown with clots and I have light period cramps. Ring your EPU, they'll see you immediately or within a couple of days.

I also bought a home doppler so I can hear baby's heartbeat once a week (no more often than that as don't want to do any damage), which has been reassuring xx

Hi Glad to hear you are ok.

So I’ve been to EPU this morning. Said my cervix is closed. Some brown blood which indicated bleeding has stopped. I’ve got a polyp on my cervix also. I’ve got a scan booked for this afternoon so praying we still have a heartbeat. X

Glad you have a scan booked. Could it be the polyp has caused the bleeding. Good luck for your scan although I think baby will just fine in there xxx

I had bleeding that started at 7weeks and had to go to emerg. Mine was not just when I wiped though, it was gushes followed by a palm sized clot. They did an ultrasound and turns out I have a subchorionic hematoma. They are very common in IVF pregnancies. I’m now 17weeks, and it has appeared to resolved, but won’t know forsure until my 21wk US. Hopefully they have you come in for an US and will be able to find the cause. Best of luck xo

I’ve had bleeding through most of my pregnancy on and off. I had some last week at 15 weeks and the hospital said it looks like I had cervical ectropion which is very common apparently. It can cause a short spurt of bleeding and tails off. It’s so scary though!!

Me! I had some bleeding on and off throughout my first trimester. Had it checked every time and it was always nothing. ♥️

I definitely understand your worry Positivityisthekey. Check with your mid-wife as well and go to hospital if needed. I had bleeding at 24week, but I have placenta praevia totalis and so was warned to look for signs and call ambulance if I start bleeding. Thank god it was „old blood“ ( dark brown spotting) but I was panicking and drove straight to the hospital!!!I was admitted for 4 days as they didn‘t know where it was coming from and there was no haematoma on the placenta and could not figure out the source. Baby was unimpressed by all the action and thankfully I have not had any further bleeding after that. Am now 29week. Crossing my fingers for you🤞

Yep! Subchorionic Hematoma. I had a bleed twice (6 weeks and 13). Honestly, google it - it'll put your mind at rest if it's diagnosed as they tend to go away on their own and docs aren't worried about them. I'm now 22 weeks and at the 20 week scan it had finally gone.

I would call your doctor and see him/her soon. Clotting could mean a problem with the placenta. I had this trouble as well. My babies were fine by I had to be on bed rest to prevent the placenta from tearing away further.

Hi, just to let you know I had bleeding throughout my pregnancy. I used sanitary towels and had more scans than average just to make sure all was OK. Take it easy (no hoovering, carrying heavy bags, bed rest as much as possible etc). Think I was about 5-6months or so when they gave the baby something through me to speed up the growth of certain organs. "Incase" they had to deliver early. Oh this was 15 years ago, I have an amazing son ( I was told I had unexplained infertility and had alot of miscarriages early on), so never give up try to keep positive you have got this.
