Covid vaccine second dose

Hi ladies

I just wanted to ask if any of you ladies had your first dose of the covid vaccine and then fell pregnant after it and whether you had your second dose after falling pregnant. My gp has said for me to have the second dose and not to delay it I had the Pfizer one for first dose.

I am just very scared to get second dose as I am 12 weeks now and never got this far before so I am

Not sure what to do. I wanted to have it after the baby . It’s stressing me out as I keep getting told not to delay it. But I feel there’s not enough evidence yet whether it’s safe to have the vaccination for pregnant women

Any advice would be helpful

Thank you.

Congrats

I’ve been hassled from the NHS and my GP surgery to have this bloody vaccine!

I’ve contacted them and asked them to take me off of the list I’m currently 11 weeks + 5.

I don’t want to take a vaccine that there is no real data on how it effects pregnant woman, or their unborn child in years to come. The U.K. stuck to pregnant woman shouldn’t have it and then over night it was okay ?! 🤷‍♀️ Based on what?! A load of woman in the US and I think Israel having it

Sorry not enough for me to experiment with, after trying the last 6 yrs , 3 rounds and £40,000!!

I’ve read studies that people have mentioned and it is certainly food for thought!

This is my opinion - only you can decided what is best for you

Thank you for your reply and Congrats to you too.

Yes I am being hassled a lot with texts from

NHS and gp surgery say I must have it. I feel same as you after years of trying no way I want to take this risk and don’t want to be their guinea pig so I will delay till baby is here.

My only concern is that I have had first vaccine already and what this means if I delay second dose till I have the baby.

If I ask to be taken off list will I still be able to have it after the baby ?

Yes you can, they will ask you why are you declining it and one of the reasons is pregnancy or breastfeeding, they put a note on your file to say why, and on mine they put will contact GP after the birth.

That way they stop hassling you!

I’m not sure how it works if you’ve had the first one, because you need to have both doses in a certain time frame, do whether you will need to repeat your first dose again, but I’m sure you can ask that at the time.

Totally a personal choice but I am more worried about the proven risks of having covid in the third trimester than I am of the very low risk of the vaccine causing a long term issue. The balance of risk might be different if you are low risk and you and your household are able to isolate.

Some great information from some medical experts in this you tube video: m.youtube.com/watch?v=sEo-M...

I’m 16 weeks and looking forward to getting the first dose next week. xxx

As you said it is everybody’s choice but I can not wait to get mine either... I will wait until I pass 12 weeks mark and then I will do it. The story in NY Times about the woman who contracted Covid in the hospital and died shortly after the birth reminds me to protect myself and the baby...

I am worried off course, it took me 4 years and 5 full cycles to get here but the idea of dying from this horrible virus is very scary. I do self isolate but I do have to go shopping etc and there is always a risk of catching it ... good luck with your jab!

Well I live in the US and am 13 week pregnant and I have opt out of taken the vaccine because i am just not comfortable. No one call or force you here to take it because its people preference on what to do. Also my sister is 7 months pregnant and she is consider a essential worker and she is yet to take the vaccine, she opt to do it after she have her baby. Although we are eligible our doctors do not force us or even mention it because its our choice. Good luck on what you choose.

Hi Simz, I had my second dose in April and was unbeknowinly 4 weeks pregnant at the time, I found out I was pregnant a few days after the jab and was naturally very worried. However, so far nothing has changed and I am nearly 6 weeks pregnant, my hpt lines continued to get stronger. Its a personal choice. Good luck with whatever you decide xxx

I have my vaccine done. I make it early the 2nd dose (5 weeks between) supposed to be 8 to 12 weeks. I am worried my transfer soon. I'll go to the vaccine centre and ask. They counted how many weeks from the Ist dose and they gave me the 2nd dose AstraZeneca vaccine.

Smart move, Reese28. I wish I had done that.

I think they allow you if you explain to them. As long 4 weeks up from the first dose.

I had the first dose pre pregnancy and have just declined my second dose as it's fallen when I'm 5 weeks pregnant and I don't want to take something that's going to make me feel unwell at this delicate stage. Having said that after my anomaly scan (hoping I get that far) at 20 weeks of pregnancy I will be getting the first dose again. At that point the baby is fully formed and is just growing bigger so I feel the risk of getting covid in pregnancy is more worrying than having the vaccine. It's a completely personal choice I would read all of the data and guidance on it from official sources. The RCOG have particularly good guidance:

Hi Simz143.I had my 1st vaccine, AZ, in March, 3 weeks before I started my stim injections. I am due my second dose when I am 10 weeks. I will not be having it.

Like many people have said I feel there just isn't enough evidence and I don't fancy being ill on top of how bad I feel already.

The 1st dose gives you about 70% protection anyway so I would say that is better than nothing at all.

I will speak to my midwife about it at my booking appt tomorrow and see what she says, but I don't think I will be changing my mind x x

Hi Simz143

I understand Pfizer and Moderna have been cleared for pregnant women, but do check.

Astra Z not recommended I understand. (Good thing you got Pfizer, not Astra Z.)
