Hi ladies, anyone with very low ovarian reserve used down regulation (Buserelin, Antagon, Ganirelix, and Orgalutran)? Any problems with the periods too messed up after that? I know if very commonly used for woman with fair ovarian reserve but I'm afraid to shut down my ovaries and not be able to get it back?!

Thanks!

Hi BBHH1, I am over 40, with high fsh and low AMH. I have used this protocol twice and didn't have any problems in terms of dowregulating my hormones, as it did not affect my periods at all.

Anyway those cycles failed. I reckin one of tge biggest mistake was that I was put on a maximum dose of medication and I don't think it was the right thing to do.

Can I just ask what dose they want to put you on?

I’ve done 3 cycles with maximum dose. Follistim (FSHr) 450UI + menopur 150UI + clomid first 5 days.

In the last 2 cycles, there were 2 follicles leading by far and I think they inhibit the other to grow...

So I’m thinking down regulation could help synchronize them more than the prime with estrogen. My fear is of down regulation putting me in menopause. My periods are quite regular and I got pregnant naturally twice in 3 tries. But my blood tests are bad, therefore the fear...

Can I ask you what was your highest FSH?

I understand. I think the long protocol is definitely better in terms of syncronizing follicles growth.

Great that you fell preg naturally! That is so good!

All I can say is that the long protocol didn't mess up my cycles at all. X

Thanks, that reassurance is what I’m looking for!

Did you use the down regulation before the cycles? Or just during to prevent premature ovulation?

I have a similar situation - very low AMH. My many FET attempts cancelled because of premature elevated progesterone. Trying to do a FET for a year and only one failed transfer! Gave up and had a Lupron depot shot for downregulation, but my period only came 25 days after the shot instead of expected one week. Next period took another 40 days. So I don’t know.. when I had IVF with low AMH the best thing that worked for me for me was mild/mini ivf with Femara.

Not what you're looking for?
