I’m doing my first round of ICSI, had egg retrieval yesterday and was pleased I got 10 eggs, 9 matured but I found out today only 3 fertilised, feeling worried now if we’ll have any develop to embryos for transfer Sunday. Anyone had similar?

Hi IMax, I had 3 out of 11 eggs fertilise in my first round of IVF - one did make it to blast stage, and it was a decent grade. Hang in there.
Hi Haf05, thanks for your message. It’s tough to know what is normal in your first round everything seems like the unknown?
Do your clinic offer earlier transfers? they may offer you a day 3 perhaps?
I know its so easy for me to say but try not to stress about things you can't influence. IVF is so difficult as we are so out of control. I am channelling positive thoughts that if you have to take them to day 5 that you have at least one - if not more!
IVF is very much a learning experience. My first round I only got 3 eggs and 2 fertilised. My clinic changed a few things the next round and I got 13 and 9 fertilised. Trust your clinic and positive thinking. Good luck x
Hi daisy, they only offer day 5 transfer! So just fingers crossed that I get one good one from them.
Thank you xx
Hi all, Had my first egg collection yesterday. Was so surprised to hear they managed to collect 18 eggs (I wasn't expecting that many). But the next day I was disappointed to know it was going from 18 to 7 but I realized it is normal for the number to drop off. Next morning's call said only 3 had fertilized. I was told that two of them are not looking good. I was also warned we could be left with none. But luckily, I got 3 on the 5th day. I have just had my baby girl from the strongest looking one…… Watching the numbers falling down is really very stressful. I honestly cried a lot waiting to hear from the clinic. People are right though when they say it only takes one… Good Luck !!
Thank you for sharing your story it’s made me feel a bit better, it’s all the waiting and not knowing it’s so hard. Fingers crossed for Friday that I have one good one. X
