I need to make a decision and I would like to know the outcome of similar situations if someone had one...π
I have done 2 ivf cycles and have 2 embryos frozen. On the second cycle I got a blastocyst developed on day 7 that had some cells excluded on day 5 and very poor quality. On the first cycle got one blastocyst good quality but after the pgs test came back as low mosaic. The clinic recommends to use the mosaic embryo , but I'm so confused about it as scared if something goes wrong after . I'm 40 and do not respond to the medication. 2 long protocols, one for 3 eggs and the other 2.
Has anyone had a story similar to mine?
Many thanks π

HiCarolyo. Oh dear what a decision. Obviously you need to be guided by your specialist, as sometimes a mosaic transfer can work. obviously some don't so seek guidance from your specialist/embryo;logist. Hopefully someone will jump on who has been through a successfull mosaic transfer to reassure you. Thinking of you. Diane
Missed this - you can read my replies for more on my specifics, but I am 34wks with an abnormal and a low-level mosaic. Neither have any issues and we did the amnio and micro-array along with frequent U/Ss.
Based on what my Dr, geneticist and research I've read says, there is only 1 reported incidence of a mosaic that progresses as a pregnacy (i.e. say to 10wk scan) that did not lead to a normal healthy pregnancy. The one report the fetus was mosaic, but by birth was no longer mosaic and perfectly healthy. (Doesn't mean everything is reported.)
Thought is low-level mosaics have a slightly lower chance than normal to lead to pregnancy (45% vs 60-65%) and may have higher early miscarriage rate, but once they show competence people don't have any issues (so risk is really for Early pregnacy loss).
If mosaic is what you have, there isn't a lot of risk going for it. It's not like "normal" is that much higher. For many mosaic has better chances than "untested."
Thank you for sharing that with me. It gives me some hope knowing that there are some positive stories like yours.πI'll probably go for it and see what happens, xxx
Hi Carolyo, i have two low mosaic embryos in the freezer and as a result have done a bit of research. There are lots of stories of low mosaic embryos developing into healthy pregnancies. As I understand it, the risks are to some extent dependent on the mosaic aneupolidy detected (i.e. which chromosomes are affected and how). This is something a genetic counsellor should be able to advise you on. Have you seen a genetic counsellor? This is what my clinic suggested (i.e. advice from a genetic counsellor - I have arranged an appointment through the clinic).
Hello! Yes I did have an appointment with a genetic counsellor and she did not assure , said more or less that everything could.happen . They found 2 chromosomes involved I don't think any of them.are very compatible with life so I guess I would have a miscarriage if I got pregnant. I had to make very difficult decision in the past and I don't want to go through that again although this is out of control no matter how hard you try. Thank you for your answer, take care, xxx
