β° So , 23 months after our name was put in the nhs waiting list.... we got a call this morning asking for our email addresses so we would be ready for our call up!!!!! π² π ππ±
I thought it was a prank!
I nearly didnβt answer the phone! Who would ever expect a call about this on a Sunday? π€ͺ
I took the chance to express my despair and not being called yet !!!! And the Admin lady looked back and said the 20 month waiting list was from when we were put on the list...... (2019)...I said yes..... we have now been on the list for almost two years! ( next month itβs two years!) She looked back on the computer and gaspedπ± when she saw we had been on the list from May 2019, and I reminded her weβd been referred four months before that again! More gasping π±π±π±π€£
She then clicked on her computer ..... mumbled βI think youβll be called in a couple of weeksβ , instructed me to check my email immediately and sign up to the portal. She was nice whoever she was π₯°
I may have mentioned to the Private clinic (run by the consultant Iβm seeing in the nhs) that I wouldnβt be purchasing anymore private turns as I was due my turn with the nhs but their letter stated a 20 month waiting list!!!!!!! And updated my current nhs wait of almost two years π§ do you think this is a coincidence????? I may also have mentioned that I have written to MPs to hurry the funding etc and to complain about waiting lists. π€¬
Hmmm is this to start ivf right? I had a telephone appointment with a nhs doctor from the Assisted Conception Unit to move onto ivf since Clomid didnβt work, this was 2 weeks ago. This week we received the papers from the hospital to see if we are eligible for funding and we sent them back. I am sure we are eligible. They said the wait is not long at all and it should take 6 weeks? But itβs worrying me that it took so long for you?! π€ Good that things are moving for you now!
We already have been approved for treatment in 2019, and have been waiting our turn. We were to be called in May 2020 but covid interrupted that and it has taken until now to hear back from the nhs clinic as they are only now finishing the treatment for those paused in March 2020!
The NI situation is awful. π
Iβve emailed my local MP and basically the reason is clinic was shut down during covid and staff dispatched elsewhere.
The private clinic is run by same doctors ........ I smell a rat! π The amount of patients seen in the private clinic in this past year is almost 800!!!!! Someone needs to address this! The private clinic is making hay whilst the sun shines βοΈ I may cause a storm β but I am willing to do so if it helps someone else!!!!!
Hopefully ππ» our wait is almost over ππ»ππ»ππ» Iβm going to ring every week now until we get our turn π€£
How long did it take to find out if you were eligible? And at that point do they also tell you how long the wait is? If itβs that long I will go privated because I am determined to start ivf in the Summer, no matter what!
We had 21day bloods and a perm analysis done via the gp then The consultant told us at our first appointment when I had bloods etc taken that he recommended ICSI and he would discuss results at next app which was 4 weeks after . Then at the second appointment we were put on the waiting list and told it was a year .
We then did two private turns so we can still have nhs.
Here we are two years later because of the pandemic. We should have been called in May 2020 ya see.
Defo ask what the wait is once you get onto the list. The first part went quickly then the list .... still on it π€―
When you know the waiting times youβll be better placed to take action π
Ok, Iβm in London but Iβll definitely try to find out as soon as I hear from them. If the wait is short I have to leave my private clinic where I did Clomid cycles to continue with Nhs. But if the wait is long then iβll continue privately!RhinoCat I hope you have your happy news soon! π
Woeehoeeee. Happy days hun!!β This is so welcome isnt it! Get ready for the ride (you know the ride.. THe ride haha) jokes aside. The only thing that keeps us going is knowing we are in the game. Its like not buying a lottery in the months we dont do a cycle. Soo happy for u.
Yippeeee π¦π, this is awesome news after your hellish week! I'm over the moon for you honey. All the best, hopefully you hear formally soo that it's your turn.ππ»π€π»πͺπ»π₯°π€xxx
Iβll give them a week then ask for exact timeline. Hopefully not more than a month or two ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ» means weβve time to save for next private rounds at same time π₯³
Me too, she said we should be called in a couple of weeks but then replied later to say they were still
Finishing those they cancelled in January 2021 π Iβm on the case now though so wonβt rest for too long without ringing and now messaging in the portal!
Awh, this is great news lovely. Although I seriously can't believe you have been waiting since May 2019. Hopefully you will get started very soon and i'll have everything crossed for you that this is time. Keep us posted Xx
Woo hoo this is AMAZING news after your horrible week and previous news from the embryologist. I read your other post and felt devastated for you π
This is sounding like a wee light at the end of your tunnel this week! Woo hoo ππΌso rubbish itβs taken this long but amazing things are progressing. What do you get in NI included in the NHS treatment? We got 6 iuis (all failed) and then were entitled to 3 rounds of IVF. Luckily round 1 worked. Hope you hear soon. Will have everything crossed π€πΌ xxx
I am so happy for you. My goodness what a long wait, it's definitely an unfair system. π₯² I'm glad things are going better for. I wish you every success with it Xx
Unreal!! Things like this are so frustrating and anger inducing - but then I find that I'm always so grateful to be able to get on with treatment I forget about the anger. I've had a few mess-ups with both my clinics and each time I'm wound up and ready to spring but then I bottle it as I just want to focus on me and the treatment...But still - here's hoping you can get on with it very very soon!! xxx
This is wonderful news and wishing you all the best in your journey π€πΌ I canβt comment on NI, but in the UK the referral time was nowhere near that long, even with COVID in the way, so I really hope you donβt have to wait too much longer xx
Every country within the uk is different , Scotland is three, England two (heavily depending on your postcode) not sure about Wales but ni is one with our local gov agreeing to up to two to bring us more in line with the rest of the uk. Not holding hope this will be up and running before I get my turn but one round will allow for more time to save for further private rounds ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»
Hi,So glad you finally are starting but so sorry to hear itβs been that long...just awful!
We are also NI, not as bad as you and different stage, referred by our local NHS fertility around June 2019. Appointed for initial March 2020, cancelled due to covid and reappointed Jan 2021 but we have since been forced to go private. I have heard from initial appointment to IVF treatment we were looking at 18 months!! I wish you all the best with everything. Was so sorry to hear what happened with your last private try, just heartbreaking xxxx
NI needs to sort it out! Iβm so glad I did two private whilst I waited !!!! Can you imagine if we had not! At least we have learnt some drug stims info along the way .
Hopefully we will hear something in next couple of weeks. ππ»ππ»ππ»π
Wow, so glad you are finally getting there with your NHS round. Such a postcode lottery and I am sorry the wait has been so long for you! Seems very lucky at the same time as where I live, only one NHS round, but if you have done any private prior - you are not eligible. I wish you all the best!! π₯°π€
We are only allowed to do two max private then still our nhs. Itβs funny though, the consultant at the nhs clinic told us this snd he also runs the private clinic! ππ€―π€£
