ERA test reassurance

Hi all

I'm due to have a biopsy on Tuesday for ERA, Alice, Emma tests and I'm just nervous. I find egg transfers painful so I'm worried this will be quite bad for me.

Any advice or reassurance would be greatly appreciated.

Hey,

I’m exactly the same, transfers always really hurt me too and I had the ERA in December. Firstly, I promise you’ll be absolutely fine. It’s over really quickly and it just feels like bad period pains. Yes it’s nippy but definitely not horrendous (I took paracetamol beforehand!).

Afterwards you’re a tiny bit achy but nothing major.

I promise it’s over so quickly and it’s not as bad as you build up in your mind. Good luck and I hope you get some answers from it xxx

I took 2 paracetamol about 20 mins before and it was fine. Much better than I was expecting xx

Definitely take paracetamol and ibuprofen before hand if you can, I’ll be honest I did find it painful but fine once it’s over and I would do it again. We are warriors we can handle this!xx

I've had this done. Take strong painkillers at least an hour before you go. Its over fairly quickly but it is pretty nippy when they take the biopsy but like I said its quick!! Im sure you'll manage just fine, I'd do it again if I had to!! Good luck.xx

I worked myself up over this, and I actually had no pain, or stress.... I felt only the anxiety that I gave myself .... everyone is different and experiences different things.... best of luck on your journey

I worried about this so much and it was actually fine! I was told to take Buscopan before hand (about 20 mins) for pain relief. I’ve defo had worse things done on my IVF journey but I have quite a high pain threshold. If you find transfers painful then you will need some pain relief (your clinic should advise you) but try not to worry too much. You will be fine xx

I would agree, it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. I was told to take ibuprofen beforehand which doesn’t agree with me, so I took Solpadeine instead which was even better for pain I feel (the clinic agreed to this). The biopsy part is only 20 seconds max. My doctor got me to count aloud. I also tried to focus on pleasant thoughts while it was happening. I thought about cuddling up with my cat at the time who I adored and that got me through it, along with deep, slow breaths. You will really be fine, just take the painkillers as they work! 🌟 xx
