Hello. I'm currently on the IVF journey and doing stims day 8. Today I went for my first ultrasound appointment and it's only showing one follicle in right ovary. I'm absolutely devastated and feel like I have lost hope. How can I increase my chances and any success stories.I have next scan on Monday and they have increased the stims too.

Thanks. Really hope this is the one! It's just so hard and all I have been doing is crying all day! the clinic didn't help neither as they said you can cancel the cycle if you want.
Bless you. How are you doing this morning? If you cancel do you get your money back and can you have another go? You should still trigger and either try naturally if you have no sperm issues or can the trigger and do an IUI. Surely this options will be cheaper and if if doesn’t work then Atleast you still have some £££ for another round. Stay calm and look after yourself. We need to give every cycle our best shot...
I'm okay. Feel a bit better. Them injections are horrible! We are NHS funded and only have one cycle. Sperm is the issue so my DH had to have surgical sperm retrieval due to blockage and was a success. We are doing the ICSI and my AMH is 1.9. They have even upped the meriofert to 600 iu with fydramel. DH wants to go through with this as he seems quite confident but it's just me that's broken down. I'm even taking supplements to help me with this. What I want to know is does it vary each month with regards to follicles?
Understood. Yes follicles vary every month. At the age of 40 I had 16 follicles in Dec. In jan when I had my baseline scan I only had 6. The amh changes too if you are older (above 38) so you can check it twice a year. Get loads of protein lovely, and healthy fats (avocado) drink 2l of water... let us know how you go - I will be thinking of you xx
That's good to know. I'm 38 but didn't think I would have just one follicle! Aww thanks will do and I have changed my diet but sometimes I can't help but have a chocolate! Hopefully on Monday I have good news! Thanks for your help and will let you know. I'm glad I joined as I felt broken down xx
I have literally had the exact same news on Friday. I’ve got one follicle at 14mm and a few others but all measuring less than 10 and I’ve been stimulated for 8 days. They’ve given me the weekend to see if it changes anything but haven’t upped my dose either. They said we can cancel it and try again next month. They’ve put me on the antagonist though which I think is a bit strange considering I only have 1 follicle. I’ve been crying my eyes out too. I’ve got a really high amh but I’ve got pcos and they just said that some people have quite stubborn ovaries. I’ve been in bed since last night and feel so crap! It’s so difficult and I completely share and feel your pain. I’m hoping that Monday another few just start to grow a bit more! I’m hoping your Monday scan goes better! Sending you lots of 💕 xxxx
That's good news! At least you have more then me. On my scan it showed only one follicle on right ovary and nothing at all on the left. The nurse didn't even tell how much mine was measuring at and said I have upped your dosage and come back Monday for scan. I feel like they not helpful at all. I don't have pcos but just very low amh. Hoping your follicles grow so gives you a better chance. Thanks and you too 💖
Thanks hun. I’ve heard that sometimes all it takes is a few days and then they suddenly shoot up in size. So keep hoping I guess! I shall keep you in my prayers! Good luck hun
Shaaz, sometimes the sonographers miss the follicle or cant see it that day... was this your first scan while on stims? I remember my first scan i had 5/6 follicles, 2nd scan the sonograoher only saw 2/3, i cried my eyes out... then 3rd scan they saw 6 again! I only retrieved 2 though i had 4 mature eggs. Bfn. Drink loads of water, drink protein shakes to help your follicles grow. Did they put you on dhea or growth hormone before? What hospital are you at? Sounds like the protocol didnt work for you... keep hope, only takes one egg. And you are only 38. I pray all goes well for you. Pls try not to stress x

Sorry I messaged this morning but must have not gone through! Yes it was first scan whilst on stimms. I have changed my diet significantly but its hard when you crave chocolate! Nope they did not inform me of any dhea or growth hormone but all they gave me was folic acid. I started taking supplements myself after researching and reading up on groups etc. I'm with Wigan. I have been using a wheatbag on my tummy after reading some of the post so don't if that will help. Aww thank you! I try not too but it's hard not to think about tomorrow xx

I'm sorry to hear that. But try to stay positive. Your body needs the good vibes. I had 1 follicle on my first stim scan too. I cried. But I refused to give up. Keep doing what you are doing I don't know where I was getting the willpower from but it's helped as I was told I have 4 potential follicles now. I am having egg collection tomorrow and really hope it is successful.
It is a horrible horrible process to go through. You are not alone and we are all here to support you. ❤ stay strong. You can do this.
Even if its just the one. ... you only need the one. So don't lose hope just yet. I really do hope it works out for you x

Aww thanks that means alot 💖 that's good news and I hope it all works at for you! It is such a draining process and it really affects you mentality. At least you have given me hope and maybe tomorrow will be a new beginning and hoping it's good news for me! Hi. I thought I will give a update. Went for my scan today and they manage to find two follicles on right ovary and none on left measuring at 8mm and 14mm. The nurse said that if by Wednesday the 14mm goes between 18 to 22mm then egg collection will be on Friday or Monday as she thinks the 8mm won't grow. I asked her about the long protocol and she said they have stopped doing it as she said in the past people with low amh haven't responded well but then said if you choose to go ahead it's upto us. I spoke to DH and he wanted to go through long protocol at first. Nurse explained that with long protocol it would be a long process and I may not even get any follicles and if it falls through I may not be able to go back as it will be classed as abandon cycle. What would be the best way. Stick to the short protocol and hope for best or change to long protocol. I'm in a dilemma. Nurse said my blood work isn't great neither and seemed like she wanted me to stick to it as she mentioned it's cost effective for them. I would appreciate for anyone who has gone through this to give me your insight.
