Hi all, I’ve had three miscarriages and had embryo transfer from a new round today. I had six blastocysts from December but was unwell and they JD to be frozen. Two were to be defrosted today but one didn’t survive and they defrosted a third so I guess I’m lucky; had two put back in, and three still frozen. Has anyone else’s blastocyst not survived previously? I thought it was rare so was a bit taken aback when I was told this morning. Anyway the two were good and went back in so fingers crossed. I’m 42 so this really will be my last round. Thanks if you’ve got this far; I’m rambling 😂 x

I believe around 80-90% frozen blastocysts survive thawing (my clinic says they have 90% survival and are above average) so its normal if sad to lose one. Hopefully the ones you have are fighters xx
Hi Rehsuh, 6 blasts is so amazing. May i ask which clinic you used? I am 40 and a poor responder and have had 2 miscarriagges from naturall pregnancies. Only ever get 2 embryos. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
Hi there, sorry to hear re your experiences. I’m with Sussex Downs Fertility Clinic in Eastbourne. They are really good I think. Been with them a couple years and this is my second round with them. (But fourth embryo transfer). Where are you? Have you frozen one embryo and had one transfer at a time? Wishing you best of luck. There are lots of famous mums older than us - that’s what I cling on to! Xx
Ive had 3 rounds which made me learn that i am a poor responder. 1st was abandoned due to poor response, got 2 in second but failed and 3rd was better with 5 follicles but only 2 retrieved and 1 embryo. But want to try again with diff drugs this time. Im in London x
Hey, I had this - I had 3 blastocysts from my first cycle and transferred 2 and froze 1. Fast forward 2 years and we’d moved clinics and tried to transfer the last frostie but it didn’t survive the thaw. Like you I was lucky I had others but was still disappointed as in my head it represented a chance of a baby. My clinic told me it was normal and a small percentage don’t survive the thaw. In my case they also said the blastocyst was a poor quality that wouldn’t have met their grade for freezing. Fingers crossed for your 2WW xx
Thanks 😊 sorry to hear about your transfer. Are you doing another round? Yes I guess I try to think that it’s better it didn’t survive the defrosting process than fail later (again). So it was meant to be I suppose. Jane x
Hi Rehsuh, sorry to hear that, it happened to me twice. The first was a very well graded embryo from when I was 36, so it was a surprise considering they said there was a 95% chance it would survive thaw. It is sad, but I had to keep reminding myself that I could have gone through the whole 2ww and then it would have failed. I never take for granted the embryo surviving anymore. Hopefully your remaining 2 are making themselves comfortable where they naturally should be xx
