‘Congratulations you are pregnant’... But your numbers are low, so come back in 48hours to make sure there doubling.
48 hours later ‘Congratulations really good news today, your numbers are doubling’...But the numbers are still low, so come back in another 48 hours.
Like what does that even mean how can you say Congratulations BUT. I am really struggling today. Especially because the clear blue is still showing 1-2 which means my beta is still below 160. When ideally it should be late hundreds by now.
How can they say the first number doesn’t mean anything it’s all about the trend. But finish the sentence off with but it is a low number 🥺
Struggling today ladies, sorry for the moan 🥺

It's hard Mae, there had been some research that the starting number one certain day can be a predictor of the outcome for the pregnancy. However, so long as your levels are rising correctly (as it sounds like they are) then things are certainly going the right way. I guess they are trying to be realistic from the research but to the same token they cant deny things are going well from your levels. Hang on in there.xxx
Oh it’s so frustrating Mae, I’m sorry you’re going through this. Not an expert but I had v early miscarriage on my first ivf. The clinic said so to me that early on so long as the number is doubling it’s a good sign, but they expect it to speed up more than double if the numbers are low. I.e 3 weeks post 5 day transfer my numbers were still in the mid hundreds when they should have been in the thousands or tens of thousands.
I would totally stay positive right now as everyone starts off in a different place, but they could skyrocket soon! Sending hugs and positive thoughts your way!!
I’m sorry hun, it’s so hard! I guess clinical teams see these situations all the time and don’t want to create expectations in people which is why they say what they say. To give you an example, when I went for my viability scan and all was well, after I smiled the Sonographer said: there’s so much that can still go wrong 🙈...she ruined that bit of happiness I felt (and 4 weeks later I had a miscarriage, so she was right if you look at it...). Having said that, IVF thought me a great deal about patience....it’s a step by step process, where waiting is the main act 😱so it’s wait for the HCG to double, wait for the viability scan, wait for the 12 weeks scan, wait for the 20 weeks scan.....and so on.
The sooner we learn to stay calm and not let the anxiety this process creates in us take over, the less stressed we will be.
Big breathe hun, and onto the next beta ❤️🤞🏻🍀good luck to you! Xxx
