I’m 8 weeks and 5 days pregnant today and last night I had a little bleed. When I wiped there was red blood on the tissue and I had to wipe a few times to get it cleaned. I wore a pad and this morning I had brown discharge. I am panicking as this is my 1st ever pregnancy. Waiting to hear back from the GP. But in the meantime if anyone have any advice or would like to share similar experience, that would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Was it ivf?? Some bleeding is common in ivf pregnancies. I read that on here a lot, people who have had bleeding in ivf but gone on to be OK. Depends how heavy it is? I miscarried at 7 weeks and had some really thick tissue type lumps, it looked like uterine lining rather than just blood. So I think you'd know if it was over...Good luck. Fingers crossed for you x
Yes, it was IVF. I have brown discharge now. Called the early pregnancy unit and waiting them to ring me back. I’m hoping that there’s nothing to worry but can’t really help myself. Fingers crossed. Thank you for your reply. xx
I had similar to this at around 6wks, 9wks, then again at 13wks. Its so scary but the good signs from you is that all has calmed down and that you haven't mentioned you are in pain. My clinic advised that it could be the pessaries irritating my cervix or the placenta implanting still. If you can, take it easy and put your feet up. Im now 25wks.xx
That’s amazing, really happy for you. I had mild to moderate cramps throughout this pregnancy and had mild cramps last night as well but nothing major. Trying to reach the early pregnancy unit is a nightmare. Trying since morning no luck and the midwife isn’t available until Friday. What should I do? As I mentioned the bleeding stopped for now but I have brown discharge. xx
Hun have you spoken to your clinic? Perhaps you’ll need an extra dose of hormones like progesterone...if you’re on pessaries an extra one or an extra injection if you do them...other than that not much else to do if not bed rest ❤️Try to relax, I know not easy! Xxx
Hi Hun, I did ring my clinic this morning. But they’ve discharged me at around 6 and a half weeks so it wasn’t much help. The nurse told me to continue with the meds and to contact my GP that’s all. I’m trying to relax and keep my feet up as much as I can but as you said it’s not easy. Thank you so much xx
Brown is old bloody so not so much of a worry and quite common. Unfortunately there isn't a lot you can do apart from keep trying early pregnancy and see what the midwife advises on Friday. As I said take it easy if you can.xx
Hi Fazmin. Hopefully with brown blood this morning, it is settling down, as brown blood is old blood. This is a common occurrence around now, as your baby's placenta is developing from a chorionic villi to a proper placenta. Should you get a pad full of bright red blood, then you need to see someone at the early pregnancy unit. Rest when you can. Thinking of you. Diane
Hi Diane, thank you for this info. It’s very reassuring and I can’t appreciate enough specially when I can’t get through to any help. Trying to relax but it’s not easy. xx
