Viability scan

Hello

I had a positive beta and after getting a positive pregnancy result after 9 days I started getting period pains and bleeding with clots so I knew that was bad sign. This was at 5.5 weeks

I rang my clinic where I had the transfer and they advised me to continue with my medications as I am till i have my viability scan at 6 weeks.

Today I had my viability scan and there was no sac at all so they feel I had an early miscarriage. However they said they will need to take my hcg blood test which they did they said if it comes back positive then it is possible it is an ectopic pregnancy which is serious. I will need to go to EPU To get it checked.

If hcg comes back negative then they said it’s not an ectopic and I had an early miscarriage.

They have advised me to continue with my meds till I get my blood results back tomorrow.

I am new to this all as this is our second IVF cycle first cycle was BFN but this second cycle we got further as we got BFP and today was my first ever pregnancy scan so I have no idea if what they advised is right or not.

Any advice will be very appreciated.

Hello, so sorry for the news that you were hoping for. Did the clinic not try to find if it was ectopic? That’s quite worrying as it is so serious. Big hugs hun xx

I've just had a chemical pregnancy (my OTD was last Sat) and I've been told to take another pregnancy test this Sat to rule out an Ectopic... It's very scary when you hear that word - but try not to worry. Easier said that done I know... Take care. Xx

I am going through something very similar Our 1st cycle BFN and then second BFP. Was so pleased but started bleeding at 6 weeks. I ended up at the early pregnancy unit as the clinic wouldn't see me. The hospital confirmed blood tests that HCG was rising but not enough for a viable pregnancy. They scanned me and saw a sac but confirmed it was a miscarriage. My clinic told me to keep taking my meds till the hospital confirmed it was miscarriage.

Thank you all for replying I have just got home I was not scanned tonight. They just took a urine sample and said my bp and other observations they did do not indicate an ectopic as I don’t have tip of the shoulder pain or severe abdominal pains , or heavy bleeding. But will call me tomorrow with my urine results. I’m So scared if it’s an ectopic as it just sounds so serious.
