What is the earliest that you can do a viability scan. Is 6 weeks okay? Very nervous about this and keen to get it done x

You can get it done at 6 weeks but depending on when your embryo implanted, you might not hear the heartbeat this early. Best bet is to wait until 7 weeks. I had mine at 7 and a half weeks and because I ovulate late, the little one measured 6 weeks 4 days. I'd advise against going too early as you might cause yourself unnecessary heartbreak thinking it's bad news, when in reality, you just had a scan too soon to see a heartbeat. X

Zebedee, so did your baby turn out okay? I went in for 7 weeks and no heartbeat, measured 6 weeks 6 days. I have an ultrasound next week. So scared.

Hi, yes, we were very lucky and had a heartbeat (first time ever in 3 years) and am now 11 weeks in. Every scan is nerve wracking, 8 week scan was horrendous as I guess there was more to lose. I'd assume that if your baby is 6 weeks 6 days, there is still hope? Suggests it is still growing? If anything bad had happened I'd guess the baby would be measuring much smaller. Fingers crossed you were just a fraction too early 🤞🤞 it's so stressful isn't it? 😔

So were you able to hear your baby at 7 weeks when you went in or until 8 weeks?

It was 7 and a half weeks into the pregnancy but baby was 6 weeks 4 days. Sometimes the heart can't be heard until measuring 7 weeks, so there's still a chance you could hear it next week

You can have them from 6 weeks. They say it’s safer to wait until 7 weeks as if you’re not sure on your dates you could be a week behind where you think you are so if a heartbeat isn’t heard it can cause unnecessary worry. However, ivfers know exactly how far along we are so that’s not really an issue. For this pregnancy I had mine at 6 weeks and I was so glad I did. My anxiety up until that point was through the roof and it really helped calm me down. Xx

Pls wait till 7 weeks + seeing a heartbeat is magical (even if it looks like a prawn). Any earlier you get the empty looking sac thing and you're in the dark as to if things are ok or not.

I know the wait is killing you, its so bloody hard all the waiting.

Having had a scan on my first pregnancy at 6 weeks due to bleeding I left feeling just as crap or worse than when I went in. (Miscarried soon afterwards). Whereas second pregnancy i waited till 7 weeks 5 days and I recognised the heartbeat straightaway.

Distractions are the only thing to do in the meantime.

I wish you all the luck in the world and congratulations on getting your BFP. I hope you have a boring and normal pregnancy. Xxx

Thank you - I literally had a speck of blood this morning and it has sent me into a waive of anxiety this morning and am so fearful of another miscarriage

Hi, I know how difficult it is to wait, I wanted to go at 6 weeks but my husband didn’t want me to go early in case there was no heartbeat, my advise is to wait until you are 7 weeks. Best of luck and keep us update 😘😘

Probs best to wait until 7 weeks and then you are more likely to see/ hear the heartbeat x

Congratulations!! I had my first scan today - I thought I was 7 weeks & 2 days but baby was measuring more around 6 weeks 5 days but it already had a really strong heart beat!

My fertility nurse said anything from 6 weeks upwards is good but ideally 7-8 for a better imagine, more accurate measurements and also to make sure you get the heartbeat.
