Married almost 3 years and we decided we would begin to try for our first child - the process is not straightforward.
We never used contraception really and just went the natural route - being very careful each month around ovulation time.
Months of trying and nothing. So I called the doctor, and they wanted to do some tests...
Thus cycle I had a positive OPK, and my BBT saw a natural spike and has remained elevated. Bloods have come back with no indication of ovulation and if I am honest this is a bit devastating.
Would love to hear from someone going through similar?

Hi. Firstly, sending big hugs! News like this is devastating, but it’s early days. We have been trying for 2.5 years now and like you had some tests done. My GP also thought I wasn’t ovulating, but all my OPK tests I did at home were positive so I was devastated when they told me this. Hubby got semen analysis tests done and it turns out he has severely low sperm count. We were finally (after nearly a year!) able to get a referral to gynaecology to have more tests done. All my blood work came back normal (and I am ovulating!) - the female tests have to be done at particular times in your cycle, and my GP didn’t really factor this in when doing my initial blood tests. I honestly wish I had seen doctor earlier as it’s a very slow process, and it feels like I’ve had to be very pushy to get them to do testing. Make sure hubby gets tested too, then you will have the full picture. I’m still coming to terms with the fact that we’ll need to do IVF due to sperm count, but there’s lots of support available here, so try to stay positive until you have all of the facts.xx
Hi Retro. If you have both been checked out with initial bloods for you and semen analysis for your husband, then ask your GP to refer you to a specialist for further investigations and possible treatment needed. Good luck! Diane
Thanks Diane, going through the process with this at the moment. Struggling to get past the GP receptionist at the moment which is hard as I just want medical advise from the doctor but even the results of tests were given straight from receptionist which left me a mess yesterday. Hopefully I can get speaking to doctor Monday.
Hi. Sorry to hear that. If no joy, then you could contact me on my direct line 0121 323 5025 if you think I can be of some help to talk over results etc. Diane
