Private IUI waiting time?

Looking for how long the wait list is for IUI privately in Glasgow (or anywhere really just trying to get an idea) or a time line of what's involved. We will use donor sperm.

Trying to think of when myself and my partner need to save up for?

Hi MoI dont know the waiting times in Glasgow but I did start with IUI privately using donor sperm.

My first recommendation would be to secure your donor sperm. The first time around I waited 18 months for my donor sperm, which I now know was a crazy amount of time. I was sourcing it through my clinic and didnt know any better. I now know of other HFEA recommendations for donor sperm (PM for details if you like).

Once I had the donor sperm the IUI wait wasnt long at all. Because its natural and there are minimal medications involved, its surprisingly cheaper than you think. You also need to be registered with a clinic in order to purchase the donor sperm for storage - and then they will keep it for you until you are ready for your IUI.

My biggest regret though is that I didn't start my IUI earlier - I assumed it would work first time as there was no reason that I was aware of that I wouldn't get pregnant - apart from the fact that I didn't have regular access to sperm 😂

Unfortunately for me 3 IUIs later I moved on to IVF and have now done 2 rounds of IVF (with different sperm much quicker to get).

Dont get me wrong, IUI does work, there are success stories - but I would recommend you start trying to find out if you will be that success story earlier rather than later as the older you get the harder it is.
