Hi Ladies,

As the title says really. Does your clinic require you to self isolate?

Mine is saying from day 7 of stims to transfer.

How are you getting around that with work etc?

Thanks in advance xx

Didn’t have to isolate at all with mine in September - just a COVID test day before egg collection and another test day before transfer x

Thanks for relying.

I don’t know how it’s going to be possible with work. They don’t know and it’s not something I want them to know. Xx

I did my cycle at the height of the first lockdown - we just had to take sensible precautions. I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect you to isolate so to be honest I wouldn’t but I would also ensure I wasn’t using public transport or wandering the supermarkets. Work and home and that’s it x

Yes that’s what I was planning to do. My husband would be going to work as would my daughter to nursery. Will take precautions where I can. Thanks.

How can your clinic tell if you are isolating? I bet loads of people aren’t!?

We don’t have to do anything at our clinic except get our temp checked everytime we go - and OH isn’t allowed in at all - just me. They do say if you get a temperature they will cancel the whole cycle and you still have to pay

I think it’s about being careful and sensible but if you need to work I am not sure how you can not if you see what I mean? I am the same I have never told work about Ivf etc so I understand your worries

Good luck xx

I need to have COVID tests at 2 stages of treatment and if it’s positive they will cancel treatment in most cases, except I suppose it egg collection is looming. Fingers crossed.

I was only told to isolate after my covid test which was done 48 hrs before my egg retrieval and this is to protect me from exposing myself, potentially having stopping the cycle. I’d say to just be careful and do what you can to limit going out but the clinic cannot expect you to take 2+ weeks off for IVF!

Mine have told me to isolate 2 weeks before egg collection

How did you juggle work around that please?

They have told me that they will supply me a letter, I don’t think there will be a problem with my works, I work in healthcare and look after Covid patients on a daily bases, so I will be considered high risk and the policy is work is that if you are having surgery or medical treatment and are required to isolate you will be medically exempt from work

I'm hopefully having FET soon and when I called on day 1 of my period was told to be careful when out due to Track and Trace as if I was contacted to self isolate appointment would be cancelled until after Christmas. I decided to isolate since day 1 and my DH started isolating a few days after me. We're very lucky as both working at home at the moment and my parents live near by to do our food shopping. It's inconvenient staying in but would feel gutted if transfer was cancelled because I decided I needed a chocolate bar or something!

Totally get that, and it’s very fortunate you do work from home. I do too but my husband has to go out to work and my daughter has nursery. Im sure I’ll work something out.

Hi, I hope it works out for you!

We had to isolate from day 9 of stims, we had a covid test that day as well. We now have to isolate until after embryo transfer.

We were really lucky, we actually had a week annual leave booked for this time period anyway from earlier in the year - so felt it was meant to be 😉🤞 My partner works from home. I had to talk to work about what was going on as I felt I am likely to need their support for appointments etc when we knew we were getting closer, turns out like say though, maybe I would not have had to as A/L week fell right.

Completely get if that is something you do not want to do.

My work has a policy for ivf as well, which I was not aware of, but found it coincidentally, so I can take some more leave days of needed after my annual leave if we are still having to isolate for treatment. Might be worth looking into, but again - I suppose that means talking to work and letting them know 😞

I know this isolation can be a frustration and perhaps not work out well for everyone - but we are in an unprecedented situation, no one could have imagined this I don’t think. And I think the clinics are doing it to obviously protect us, in case we have to end a cycle, but also to protect others coming via the clinic in those days we need treatment. Sedation for EC is the major concern really. So not following protocol does not just put you at risk, but others too. And of course the staff.

I don’t say that to make anyone feel bad - but just pointing out they are just trying to protect the public and the service really. We don’t want ivf treatments to have to stop again 🥰😇🤞

Wishing you all the best 🥰

Mine says strict social distancing until 3 days before EC, then COVID test, and strict isolation for those 3 days between the test and EC. It is for their safety, not mine, and I fully support them on this! xx

Hello. I had to have two Covid tests when I was going for scans and then myself my husband and little boy had to isolate for a week before the egg transfer. I spoke to my work about it and they have been very supportive but I know this is not an easy situation and it seems like every clinic is different. Good luck 🤞🏼X
