HCG too high - Molar pregnancy?

Hi,

I had my first bloods done on Saturday at 4+2 and my HCG Was 822.

I put it done to having two embryos put back but then I had my HCG tested again at 5+1 and it was over 7000!

Does this mean I’m having a molar pregnancy?

Can anyone help who has been in this position?

I’m beside myself.

Hey, that isn’t too high. At 5 + 1 my hcg was 19,124. I had two embryos transferred but we have just one baby. Hcg varies widely. Molar pregnancies are rare! You have a really good strong pregnancy. Xxx

I had a partial molar pregnancy and at 5 weeks my levels were around 10,000. When I had my ultrasound the sac was also growing abnormally. They did not know it was a partial molar until after the baby stopped growing and i had a D and C and the tissue was abnormal.. HCG levels have such a range and its impossible to tell just from your numbers if it is one. I was concerned that my levels were too high as well but the doctor said that molar pregnancies are incredibly rare.

You cant go on hCG results for a molar pregnancy, there are many difference factors and molar pregnancies are in fact pretty rare. Yes the levels can be higher but hCG can vary greatly in pregnancy and if your rates were doubling every 48hrs then your levels are sound ok....could even be twins?!xx

Thanks for your replies - I had a scan to make me feel better and everything looks normal for >6 weeks. They could see a gestational sac and a yolk sac (It’s a singular pregnancy they think) but they said it was too early for a foetal pole as they measured me as 5w not 5+5 like my LMP dates suggest. They said this is common with IVF babies as implantation is later than it would be in a natural pregnancy and I stimmed for 14 days. They don’t think it’s a molar pregnancy from what they can see which is a relief.

Very sad that one embryo has gone.

I’ve got to go back in 7-10 days to be scanned again.

Now worried that I’m measuring behind my LMP - constantly worrying about something.

Thank you so much for replying, currently sobbing on the train.

Awww bless you lovely. Try not to be sad, at least one embryo took. Your hcg seems to be doubling nicely and the reassurance from the sonographer too. As long as everything looks normal hold on to that thought!! Good luck for your next scan. 😘💗

Bungy1234, I’ve been searching this forum as I’ve been worried about my HCG level and landed here.. I tested on 10dp5dt (exactly 4weeks) and had 612... I haven’t seen such a high number from the others !! Looking at your experience, I guess I don’t have to worry too much? hope you have a really happy and healthy pregnancy xxx
