After a year of waiting I will be starting my first cycle this month (IVF with ICIS). It’s short protocol and I wondered if anyone had any advice as I feel like it’s going to be a whirlwind of drugs then egg collection before I even have chance to process what’s happening.
Any advice? Or prep that anyone recommends? Xoxo

Hi there! I just had my egg collection on Tuesday after 11 days of meriofert stimulation on the short protocol.
It definitely is a whirlwind but I think it’s good that it’s not weeks and weeks of extra meds before hand.
My advice is to make sure you have a plan and set times for each injection and keep to them. Make sure you have someone to speak to, either reach out on this forum or a friend. I’m lucky to have someone who has been through this a year ago who has listened to every last question, moan concern hah.
Add more protein and healthy fats to your diet during stim and cut out caffeine, alcohol, sugars and fizzy drinks. Think about it as giving your body the best tools to grow the best follicles.
You will feel bloated and quite frankly exhausted. Be kind to yourself and take time to relax and chill out.
Try not to stress. Easier said than done I know, and I’m currently in a 5 day window now waiting to see if I have a viable embryo to transfer and this is the worst I’ve felt.
I think for me, the mental and emotional toll has been worse than the physical one, but we’ve got to trust the process, expect the worst and hope for the best.
I did meriofert every evening and then on day 5 I started a morning injection of a different drug (can’t quite remember the name) too until egg collection. Then after egg collection I took 2 x progesterone pessaries until week 7 scan - hope this helps x
Hi Bunnys123 I have just finished a short protocol too. I managed to get through it by literally getting through each day focussing just on the tasks for that day and setting lots of alarms on the phone as a way of ensuring I remember to take jabs. Also I went to bed as soon as possible. 8.30/9pm some nights as it really helps. Good luck x
