I can’t stop eating!!

This is my 4th time preparing for transfer although I’m actually having an ERA this time. I’m hoping it’s the drugs but I literally can’t stop eating!!! It’s disgusting me as normally I eat pretty healthily. All I want is carbs and chocolate and snacks! I’m eating lots of veg too but the cravings are out of control. The biopsy is on Thursday so I’m hoping to return to normal pretty soon after. Anyone else been through this??

Happy chomping ladies 😂😢😂🤣

Omg I literally could have written this. I’m also prepping for ERA (4th transfer) and I’m eating like a pig. All I want is chips. I’ve got 2 weeks until the biopsy though. Good luck! Xxx

Thank goodness it’s not just me! It’s so out of control. Hope all goes well and I’d love to hear your results of your ERA xx

Likewise!! Fingers crossed for some answers. And less eating xxx

Hey, how are you getting on? Can I ask, were you on Buserelin as prep for this? Good luck for tomorrow! xx

Hey hun, thanks for checking in. I’m going stir crazy to be completely honest. We’ve been shielding for nearly 3 weeks so I just want to get it over and done with! Not long to go now. No I’m not on Buserelin. I’m on Progynova, everol patches and Cyclogest. Do you need to know quantities? What are you on hun and how are you doing? Xx

Millbanks profile image
Millbanks in reply to hifer

Oh bless you. I bet. Not long now!! I’m on buserelin and waiting for my cycle to start before taking progynova... I’m ok thanks. Just want to get on with it so we can start our fresh cycle xxx

hifer profile image
hifer in reply to Millbanks

Oh interesting. I didn’t start any drugs until day 2 of my cycle. I always find it so interesting how different clinics do different protocols. I know I’m with you so much. I just want to get it over with. Sadly we are going to have to wait until Jan to transfer as the clinics Xmas dates don’t work with my cycle! Thinking of you too xx

Millbanks profile image
Millbanks in reply to hifer

Urgh that is annoying. I’m slightly concerned that if my cycle is delayed we’ll not get a fresh cycle in either... but fingers crossed. I know what you mean! It is so weird how they do different protocols. Let me know how you get on. Thinking of you xx

It was fine thank you. My lining was thin again which is so annoying (between 6-7mm) so we’re just hoping that there was enough tissue to be biopsied. I was expecting it to be very painful but to be honest it was ok and I’ve definitely had worse things done on this journey! I do have a high pain threshold but I would say that it’s really nothing to worry about. Just take pain relief before as advised. X

Gah linings are the bane of our lives!! Mine was the same last time. Fingers crossed for you hun. I'm very glad to hear you say it wasn't too bad. I don't think anything can be as bad as my HSG (molten lava through my tubes)... so I will take a couple of paracetamol before hand and hope for the best. xxx

hifer profile image
hifer in reply to Millbanks

I know they really are! I’ve not heard of an HSG but that does not sound pleasant!! I had an MVA after our last miscarriage without an anaesthetic and I kept saying to myself that if I could get through that then I could get through anything! My clinic makes you take Buscopan 20mins before the ERA (for period pains and IBS) and I’d probably recommend this as it seemed to work! You can buy over the counter. You don’t need to worry though. My anxiety was through the roof before hand and that’s not a good way to be! X

Millbanks in reply to hifer

Oh lordy, it's where they squeeze dye through your fallopian tubes and x-ray at the same time to check for blockages. It took 10 seconds and I nearly passed out. They said to take paracetamol before but it didn't touch the sides, so naturally I'm terrified about anything else where they tell me to do that.... I've not heard of an MVA but just googled it and I can't believe you had that without anaesthetic! Rock hard. (sorry you had to have that done though :(

My clinic also suggested Buscopan so will give it a go, might double up... Thanks for the reassurance - it definitely helps with the anxiety xxx

Are you on progesterone? I was ravenous the first week or so on utrogestan, but it calmed down after a while when my body got used to it. It also made me incredibly short tempered, so I hope you're not having that too!! Good luck xxx

hifer profile image
hifer in reply to MissSaoPaulo

I only started that today so it wasn’t even the progesterone!! I’m so over this cycle. I have been bad tempered too but that’s prob linked to shielding and not seeing anyone/ not really going out! Bring on Thursday and let’s get this thing over and done with!! 😉x

You should embrace it! I'm also preparing for transfer but the HRT tablets make me really nauseous. I'm trying to eat healthily but I'm struggling to eat much at all! Not good for me as I lose weight easily and being too thin is not a good

hifer profile image
hifer in reply to hoping_for_our_time

Oh hun. Sorry to hear. Not good for either of us! Have you spoken to your clinic about the nausea? They might be able to advise you. Wishing you all the very best for your transfer x

Thank you, yes had this last 2 cycles, clinic say to just crack on and get through it. Trying to eat little and often. Hope your transfer goes well, sending positive vibes! x

Thanks. I’m not having a transfer actually but an ERA. Hope your transfer goes well and you don’t feel too unwell x

The HRT tablets are doing exactly the same to me, I feel so sick and don’t eat anything til I’m home from work and then I have to force myself,,,,,,,,,, I feel the same ,,,,,, Chomp away Hifer your body is telling you too 😋 And tbf I could do with loosing a few pounds but if you’re concerned about unnecessary weight loss then maybe try some protein shakes xx

hifer profile image
hifer in reply to Blue1978

Sorry to hear you’re feeling sick too! Really hope it passes. These flippin’ drugs! X

Blue1978 profile image
Blue1978 in reply to hifer

I know they’re awful, they messed with my hormones so much I cancelled my ET and opted for an FET so to let my body recover,,,,,, It’s a lot less harsh on me for sure this time round and since we’re only doing this once I hope it works 🤞🏻X

I say enjoy it & dont feel guilty!! Its not for a transfer so eat what you like....nothing else to lock forward in these covid riddled times!!🤣xx

hifer profile image
hifer in reply to Cinderella5

I know that’s exactly the issue!! We’re shielding, not seeing people and having no fun! I think it’s partly drugs and partly boredom! We’re back in lockdown (tier 2) here too🙄. How are you doing lovely? X

Guilt free treats I say!!🤣🤣 We're the same in Scotland, not allowed to even see our parents!🤦🏼‍♀️ Bloody Nicola Sturgeon.👊🏻 I'm doing ok thanks, still feel normal which is great but wishing my life away to get to 12wks.....in fact each milestone/scan.😂xx

hifer profile image

I totally understand hun. I would be the same. Hopefully the 12 weeks should give you some more reassurance. Glad you’re feeling good though. 😘xx

Not too long to go now and last week helped but the 12wk one will help. I actually cant even say the Im P word out loud yet as I dont quite believe it!🤣🙈 Yes, I'm very lucky to be in this situation.xx

Oh bless you! God you get so scarred by this journey it’s so hard to come out the other side. I understand completely. Hang in there lovely. You’re strong 💪 and you can get to 12 weeks 💕xx

Hi ladies , can I hop on this thread. I’m having a EIP nov 2nd ( Endometrial immune profile) prepping on meds like it’s a transfer but not. Is that same as ERA?

hifer profile image
hifer in reply to Deep79

Sorry just seen this! I’m sorry I’ve not heard of an EIP before. What do they test for?

Hi Hifer, how are you doing now? Have you had the results of your ERA? My biopsy was on Nov 3rd and I dont know if mine was even performed properly. I could do with comparing notes.

I had to have the actual biopsy at a different clinic at the last minute as the clinic it was scheduled in had a covid outbreak. This other clinic were concerned as my clinic had told me to stop taking meds right after the proceedure so I took my last progesterone on the morning of biopsy. That wasn't how they do it at this clinic. Also I was asked for my blood test result (before starting hormones?) and my clinic hadnt said this was necessary. Id also had no scan immediately prior to doing ERA as my clinic said since all other scans had been fine in past it wasn't necessary. The ERA was done and footnotes written for my extra progesterone that day, and a scan of lining was done there and then (9mm) and blood test "not measured". The consultant had given the nurse the go ahead to do this ERA as I was following another clinics protocol, even though it wasnt how they do it. I called my clinic when I got back. The nurse who had told me my protocol wasnt in but another nurse said that it would have been better to have abandoned the ERA and waited till next month when the hospital was covid free and do it again. BUT she said all clinics do it differently and not to worry!!! I thought a scientific test should be performed exactly the same each time so I have doubts over thr accuracy of my test now. (plus I this clinic charged a higher price for ERA - £400 more!)

hifer profile image
hifer in reply to Florencehill

Hi there, I suspect all clinics are slightly different. I know it’s so frustrating! I don’t know why you would be told to abandon the ERA though. That sounds a bit drastic so I’m pleased they went ahead.

I had all my last meds the day before the ERA. Did you continue to take progesterone then after? On the day I had my blood test (don’t know the results yet), then I had a scan and then I had the biopsy. We have a follow up on 24th. My lining was thin so they said there was a slight chance they may not have enough for a biopsy but that they would let me know if that’s the case. Hopefully I would know by now 🤞. When are you expecting your results? Xx

Hi Hifer.

Can i ask a question re your ERA test. I mentioned this to my clinic my last failed round and they said only one company do in UK. Told me the price of test was around 1200 then you have to pay for mock cycle aswell. Is this true?

I see youve used Acces fertility aswell i think and im thinking of using them wondered how you have got on with them before a part with my cash lol.

Thanks in advance.

Mandy

hifer in reply to Conceivingblee

Hey there, I think a lot of clinics do ERAs but I’m not sure how many I’m afraid. We paid £1500 for it. Most meds were included and the ones that weren’t I had some left over anyway (the patches). My biopsy has gone to France and Spain for analysis so I’m not quite sure whether multiple companies do analyse the results or whether they have to be sent to Europe. It may be that there is only one lab that does this in UK?!

I didn’t use Access fertility in the end. I was considering it at one point when my clinic started partnering with them but having worked out all the costs, it wasn’t actually cheaper for me in the end. They don’t offer PGS testing which was a must for us. I know it’s all so expensive!!

Good luck with your decision
